Running QuickBooks 2019 desktop on macOS Big Sur (beta 1 and 2) and not able to see the "Download" buttons on the Banking->Downloaded Transactions... screen. Is there a keyboard shortcut I can use to initiate the download for all accounts that are setup for downloads? Any other suggestions/workaround?
Im interested in downloading the beta. Are you experiencing ANY other issues with QB mac 2019? i must have access so if there are other issues i can't use the beta
after installing Big Sur beta 11.0 Beta (20A5354i), my QB for mac 2019 stopped working,
all I could get was the bouncing beach ball before it would completely load the company file.
I downloaded the QB for mac 2020 trial - it worked, so then I purchased that version and now I am getting the same loading failure.
I want want to have to go back to catalina, but see no alternative unless someone out there has an answer??
Hi there, @LSSIR.
It's my pleasure to provide insights about Big Sur beta 11.0 and to ensure you're able to download the QuickBooks for Mac 2020 on your computer.
Currently, Big Sur 11.0 is under Beta, which means not fully public release. In this case, I recommend visiting the Apple website to report the unexpected issues you've encountered by clicking the Sign up button. This way, they can improve the software.
There are a few possible reasons why you've encounter issues in downloading the QuickBooks for Mac 2020. Make sure to check our system minimum requirements before downloading the new version. To make sure QuickBooks can be installed without any problem.
Once you've done checking the system requirements, you can now download the new version by going to this link https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products. I've attached a screenshot for your reference.
For the detailed steps, please visit this link: Install and set up QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
However, if you're still getting the same issue after confirming the system requirements, I'd suggest contacting our Technical Support team. A specialist will help you to fix via a secured remote access session.

However, I was able to download no problems.
RECAP
I had installed the Big Sur beta, after which QB for Mac 2019 would not load the company file - it would hang...so then I had successfully downloaded and installed the QB for Mac 2020 trial - everything worked as designed. That is when (and why) I purchased and installed the new QB for Mac 2020, however, the QB for Mac 2020 hangs the same as the QB for windows 2019.
with Big Sur, while trying to load my company file...
QB for Mac - hangs
QB for Mac 2020 TRIAL - works
QB for Mac 2020 - hangs
I have sent the report to APPLE ever time a report has been generated when I have had to force quit QB for Mac
thanks
UPDATE
I created a new test company with QB for Mac 2020 installed on Big Sur beta and it works
SO>>>>
the problem is that QB for Mac 2019 and QB for Mac 2020 cannot load the existing company file, but QB for Mac 2020 TRIAL can?
so whats different with the trial version?
Let me help you get this error sorted out, @LSSIR.
I appreciate you for sharing the complete details of the troubleshooting steps you've performed. It's possible that your existing company file is corrupted or damaged. Let's perform the following troubleshooting steps to resolve this:
1. Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release
2. Verify the integrity of the company file
3. Safe Boot
4. Add New Mac OS user
If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. An agent will be able to further look into the root cause of the error in a secured environment.
Feel free to leave a comment below if you have other questions about accessing and managing your QuickBooks company file. I'm always here to help.
I could not perform Step 2 as the application hangs when attempting to open the company file (this is the primary issue)
I did perform steps 1, 3 and 4.
After creating a new user (with admin rights), I was able to open the company file the first time, and then back to hanging up when I repeat. (back to square one)
Are you sure its OK to call tech support - I read on this forum that Big Sur was not supported?
could not perform step 2 (it hangs as the company file is loading)
performed steps 1, 3, and 4 - worked first time opened company file, then every time after that, it hung up when attempting to open.
Are you sure it's advisable to call Technical Support? I read on this forum that Big Sur is NOT supported??
Hi there, LSSIR.
As indicated in the system requirements article and in the previous reply, Big Sur is not yet compatible with QuickBooks for Mac 2020. This means that the software is not yet tested in this operating system.
Because of this, some features may not run correctly. This is the reason why it might have worked in the trial account and not in the paid license. QuickBooks is always designed and built to run on the final public release of the macOS version that is available at the time of development.
At this point in time, there's no need for you to contact our Technical Support Team. You'll want to go back to the old operating system while Big Sur is on its Beta version.
Please don't hesitate to visit us again if you need anything else.
thanks for trying!
Now that Big Sur is a public release and no longer beta, when can we expect QB 2019 Mac to work on Big Sur? I was already forced to downgrade once, due to QB 2019 Mac crashes, and don't want to have to go through that again.
Thanks for your support,
Sharky
Hey there, tiburon1.
Thank you for dropping by the Community. Currently our QuickBooks for Mac product doesn't fully support Big Sur. It will open but you might experience some unexpected behavior. We hope to fully support this new macOS in the next week or two. Once the final version of the macOS is released, it takes some time to test our products against it to identify any issues that need to be addressed. Then, of course it will take a little time to actually resolve any issues to declare it officially compatible. So keep an eye on our blogspot as that's where you'll find information as to when Big Sur is fully compatible.
Thank you for your time and if you need anything else, don't hesitate to post here, night or day.
Thank you for the update. Much appreciated.
What about QB 2021.... Will it work on that program. Seems like all the comments are 2020 and before
Good Afternoon, @Otto50.
Thanks for joining in on this thread. I can provide you with an answer to your question about if Big Sur will work with the QuickBooks Desktop 2021 program.
I can see how beneficial it would be for your business to be able to run your QuickBooks account properly. However, all QuickBooks Desktop for Mac programs are affected by this and won't work with Big Sur. We're working hard to make these compatible.
You can always check out our QuickBooks Blog to see what's new in the system.
I want to ensure all of your concerns are addressed. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll always be around to help. Wishing you and your business continued success!
Thank you for the reply. How will we know the update is released? I looked at the blog and there are no dates with the associated stories... so... how current are the news releases. After reading all these concerns and questions it seems like Intuit has had months with the beta to get on the same page. Will the compatibility for the new Mac OS (Big Sur) be months away?
You know Apple... They want us to keep up with their upgrades and generally you need to or machines seem to go into slow-down...
Please release an email or when the upgrade in available have it shown on the update so I know I can upgrade OS.
Thank you
Hi there, @Otto50.
The release date of the compatibility of the new Mac OS 11 Big Sur is not yet available. We can't give a specific time frame as to when this will be available.
We would suggest visiting our reference page, this contains updates to the new enhancements of all QuickBooks Products every month: QB Firm of the Future.
You are always welcome to post in the comment section if you have other questions. We're here to back you up. Take care.
I have quickbooks 2020 and just upgraded to Big Sur. I tried to change the date , po number on my invoice but it will not allow the change. I delete and add the right information and it just keeps adding to the PO number extra numbers, as for the date it back dated to 2018; the calendar drop down for date does not function to correct the date.
Hello there, @ALALLC.
Allow me to share more details about the dates in your company file in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
This is common when using the Sample company file, the date that will show will be either in the past or future.
If you aren't using the sample company file, I'd recommend performing the Verify and Rebuild method. This will check if there is data damage to your company file. Before doing this process, you need to create a back up file to avoid data loss.
Here's how to Verify your company file:
If there will be a notification that says, "Your data has failed the integrity check" you can rebuild your file. To know more about the detailed steps, check out this article: Verify and rebuild data in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
If there's no problem with your file, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Customer Care Team. They have the tools to verify your account and check further what has caused this issue.
I've added this manual that you can use for your future tasks: QuickBooks Desktop for MAC User's Guide 2020.
Please don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section below if you have other questions with QuickBooks. I'd be glad to help you further. Take care.
So I just installed update
QuickBooks 20.0.2.814 R3
Is this now compatible with Big Sur. The description on the update said so... I just want to be sure
Otto
Hi, Otto50.
As referenced by my peers above, Big Sur is not yet supported and compatible with QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. The software is not yet tested in this operating system.
Although we don't have a specific time frame as to when this will be mediated upon, rest assured, we’re actively working with Big Sur to sort everything out.
For now, you can visit this article for future updates: Intuit’s support policy for QuickBooks for Mac running on macOS 11 Big Sur.
Additionally, I'll be sharing with you the following write-up. This will help you utilize the program: QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2021 User’s Guide.
Feel free to reach again if you have any other questions. I’d be more than willing to lend you a hand.
Thank you... What about this update. Its description stated the update was to improve features and support big sur? That was my question. I am just making sure. Obviously tech support is not aware of this update. Again the update was for Quickbooks for Mac 2021. I am just looking for verification the update was for Bi Sur support
QuickBooks 20.0.2.814 R3
Thank you
Let me clarify things for you, @Otto50.
Apple's new macOS 11 Big Sur is a new release. Currently, no supported version of QuickBooks for Mac is fully compatible with this new macOS version.
However, rest assured that Intuit is working very hard to ensure our supported versions of QuickBooks for Mac will work as designed and hope to have this completed very soon.
You can also check this article to guide you more about QuickBooks Desktop Mac: User Guide for QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2021.
Feel free to post back if you have additional questions with QuickBooks Desktop Mac. I'll be happy to help you. Have a pleasant day.
Right... I understand what you're saying. However, I received a software update yesterday with in my Quickbooks program. On the description of the update it stated the purpose was to be compatible with OS 11. I am just looking for verification that the update was valid. I am now currently running Quickbooks for Mac 2021 version --- My question is about the update I received yesterday...See below
QuickBooks 20.0.2.814 R3
Thank you
