My checking bank balance is showing up in my savings and credit card accounts. How do I stop this. It just started 3 days ago. Was there an update??

Every transaction is in other accounts and of course changes that balance on that account in QB. My bank statement is correct.

Hi there, barb42.

Thanks for dropping by the Community, I'm happy to help. It sounds like it may be an issue with your Bank register. To fix this, you can check the Bank register if the Bank balance in QuickBooks is caused by an incorrect balance. Let's make sure that it has the correct date and amount. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions or Bank menu, select the bank needed to be fixed.
  2. Click the hyperlinked text, "Go to bank register."
  3. Check the Opening balance and edit the amount and then check the date in QuickBooks vs. the bank statement.
  4. Click Save once done.

I added this screenshot for additional reference.

For more information about the process, you can check out this article: Fix beginning balance issues if you've reconciled the account in the past QuickBooks Online. However, if there's no opening balance equity recorded, you can fix it by creating a journal entry. You can refer to this article for the detailed steps: What to do if you didn't enter an opening balance. Also, you can reach out to our support team for additional information, they will be able to look into your account with you in a private 1-on-1 setting to determine the exact reason your checking bank information is showing up in your savings and credit card accounts. To reach them, you can click on your product and follow the steps found in this article

If there's anything else I can do to help, please, don't hesitate to post here anytime. Thanks again and I hope you have a great day.

Nick_M thank you for responding, but that is not the problem.  The problem is that all the "transactions" that are in my checking account are showing in the savings account and the credit card account I have with my bank.  When updating EVERY checking transaction lists in the other 2 accounts. There shouldn't be any activity in either of these 2 accounts.  I know that if I ADD them they will certainly double/triple the account balances and make my register/GL way out of whack. I have talked with both QB and my bank and no one knows why it's doing it.

Thanks for your quick response and for clarifying your concern, @barb42.

Allow me to contribute some information and troubleshooting actions about your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

The system is dependent on the entries that are transmitted from your bank. To help verify the transaction type of these entries, I suggest re-contacting your financial institution.

Once verified that all the data are correct and the problem continues, I'd recommend doing the necessary troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue. We can start by accessing your QuickBooks account in a private/incognito browser.

Use these shortcut keys below:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

Once you're in, re-check the transactions to verify it's already in the right account. If it's working fine, we'll have to go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to eliminate the junk files. Using other supported browsers is a good alternative too.

If the issue persists, please call our Customer Care Team again. They can run a remote-viewing session to identify the root cause of this matter and create an investigation if necessary. Ensure to call them within business hours to cater your address promptly. For more information, visit this article: QuickBooks Online Support

I've also added these articles below to learn more about handling bank transactions, reconciling accounts, and other related topics.

Let me know how the call goes. I want to make sure your bank feeds are accurate. Keep safe!

I just wanted to thank both Nick & Michelle for the help they provided.  I tried both solutions and ended up on an hour and a half phone call with Quickbooks and my problem did NOT get resolved.  I was to call back the next day to talk with someone with more knowledge.  But when I came in the next morning, I was in QB and the same wrong info was on the screen. I opened another screen to do some other work and my QuickBooks screen went back to the log in screen (not enough time for it to time out). So I logged back in and everything was the way it should be!  I don't know who's problem it was (bank or QB), but it resolved itself!  YAY!! :) So again, thank you for your assistance! ~ Barb
