Need to fix issue in checking acct caused by bad bookkeeper. To reconcile statements, I need to restart reconciling. When R is unchecked, why does transaction disappear?

Allow me to share information about why the transaction disappears after changing it to unreconciled.

You might have sorted the list of events by reconciled status. So when you remove the "R," transactions disappear from the page.

Yes, unchecking it in the register doesn’t eliminate them totally. You can change your preference to update the filter. I’ll show you how:

1. From the Bank Register’s page, click the drop-down on the top of the Date.
2. Under Reconcile Status, update it.
3. Press the Apply button.
   

To restart reconciling your checking account, you’ll want to unreconciled them one at a time. If you need to completely start over, you can reach out to your accountant to undo the entire reconciliation.

I did like that, but the transactions unchecked R still not shown

Since you're still unable to view your unreconciled transactions, we can run an Account QuickReport specific to the bank account to find them. Let me help you from there.

1. From the Accounting menu, select Chart of Accounts.
2. Locate the bank and click on the View register drop-down menu.
3. Choose Run report.
4. Click on Customize.
5. Set the date under Report period.
6. Go to Filter.
7. Place a checkmark beside the Cleared box and then choose Uncleared on the drop-down list.
8. Select Run report.
