QB can't connect to my account because the bridge for some reason doesn't accept my User ID which I use to log into my account online. How can that be?

There's no trick to Citi Business Online, Tracy. I can share a few troubleshooting to ensure you can connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online.

Before proceeding, I would like to know if you received an error message when connecting your Citibank Business Credit Card to QuickBooks Online. Any additional information will help us get on the same page and provide accurate solutions.

Since this involves your bank's User ID, I recommend contacting your financial institution to verify the accuracy of your login credentials and avoid possible account lockouts. You can also seek further assistance from customer service through their website's contact information.

As for QuickBooks, let's clear the accumulated cache in your browser that may cause connection issues between your bank and the program. Start by accessing your QBO account in a private or incognito window by following these shortcut keys:

  • Ctrl Shift for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift for Firefox & Microsoft Edge
  • Command Shift for Safari

From there, head to the Transactions menu and log in to your Citi bank again. If entering your User ID works, return to your regular browser and clear its cache and cookies to start over fresh. Alternatively, you can switch to other supported browsers.

Apart from that, CitiBank recently made some changes to some of its accounts. To confirm if you're selecting the correct account to link to, refer to the table in this article: Fix CitiBank connection issue in QuickBooks Online.

However, if you're still unable to access that bank account after verifying that you're choosing the right bank and entering the correct credentials, consider securing a bank statement and manually creating a CSV file. Here's an article for complete details: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

Once you've successfully linked your bank account, this handy reference will help you organize your entries seamlessly so they will be posted to the accurate accounts: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Do you need help classifying your bank transactions and ensuring they're on the correct account? You can do it on your own with the guidance of an accountant. Speak now with a QuickBooks Live Expert for more personalized assistance.

For future reference, visit this resource to speed up the review process of your transactions: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

You're welcome to visit here again for more questions regarding your bank accounts or the reconciliation process. Let me know if you'd like to take care of other things like managing your entries. I'll work with you on this.
