I'll ensure to provide you with the steps in deleting existing files and emptying the trash to clear the damaged files, @Knuk5685.

 

We need to delete the existing .plist file for QuickBooks to create a newer one. Doing this will ensure that the file is not damaged, however, it will remove all the preferences you set up.

 

Delete User .plist files:

 

  1. On the Finder menu of your desktop, choose Go, then press and hold the Option key.
  2. Select Library, then choose the Settings folder.
  3. Find the following .plist files with QuickBooks and CrashCatcher in the name of the current version. (find all versions installed if upgrading): Example: com.intuit.QuickBooks2019.plist and com. intuit.QuickBooks2019.CrashCatcher.plist
  4. Move the files you found to the trash.
  5. Empty the trash after you finish moving the files.

 

Delete System .plist files:

 

  1. Open Finder, then choose Macintosh HD. (If you can’t find the Macintosh HD, you need to enable it in preferences. Select Finder, then select Settings. Go to the Sidebar tab, then put a checkmark on disks.)
  2. Select Library, then choose the Settings folder.
  3. Find the following .plist files with QuickBooks and CrashCatcher in the name of the current version. (find all versions installed if upgrading): Example: com.intuit.QuickBooks2019.plist and com.intuit.QuickBooks2019.CrashCatcher.plist
  4. Move the files you found to the trash.
  5. Empty the trash after you finish moving the files.
  6. Restart your computer.

ManneJ... Thank you for your reply and instructions. I note that your instructions refer to QB Desktop for MAC 2019. I have recently updated QBDT for MAC 2024. Are your instructions still valid? The referenced post occurred under 2024.  After I posted my issue I did a hot reboot of my MAC Pro and reloaded QB2024. Downloaded transactions from my bank, and this time they downloaded to the update register and updated without error.
While I've never posted the following problem, I have been unable to create a verifiable account copy to send to my accountant. If I were to follow the instructions you provided for my posted problem, do you think that would rectify my "unverifiable" accountants file?   ... Many thanks for your help.... Don  Knuk5685

The instructions provided by my colleague worked in QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2024 version. I recommend following the steps to clear the damaged files.

 

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have full access to your account and can review your file securely. They can also determine its cause to ensure it won't happen again.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Help and then select QuickBooks Help.
  2. Choose Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account.
  5. Then, select Continue and then Continue with my account.
  6. We'll email you a single-use code. Enter your code and select Continue.
  7. Select to chat with us or Have us call you.

 

Meanwhile, regarding the unverifiable error, the electronic file transfer or the Accountant's Copy feature in QBDT MAC is still unavailable in the 2024 version. In the meantime, I recommend transmitting data to them through a USB flash drive.

 

Rest assured that the Product Development Team is continuously improving the 2024 version. They're constantly introducing updates and improvements to cater to the diverse business needs of all users. For now, I encourage submitting your suggestion for this functionality to our product engineers.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the QuickBooks menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. On the Preferences pane, choose Feedback.
  4. Follow a link to the QBDT MAC Online Forum.

CharleneMaeF... Thank you for your prompt and helpful suggestions. I was suspicious of following instructions from the original post as they are quite detailed. I didn't want to proceed and be presented with unexpected screens and not know what to do. As a cautious test. I followed Step 1. ... My Finder screen does not offer a "GO" field. Just to check, I opened my Harddrive, noted a Library folder and checked for a "Settings" folder. ... None there. Stopped exploring there. Although I have current 2024 my MacPro operates under OSX Version 12.7.5 Monterey. Perhaps there are separate instructions for my system configuration?? Thank you also for the lead to the QB help staff. I will contact them after I find out if I can clean-up my .plist files.... Thank you again CharleneMae.,,, Don Knuk5685.
