BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN: I'm a ten year user of Amex and QB DeskTop. I dreed the monthly Amex reconcilation. The process is never easy and it do not work consistently and smoothly. I'd spoken to Amex and QB and each custmoer service representative politely says it is not their issue.
I have an Amex account set up in the Chart of Accounts, and follow these steps:
1. Open on-line feed center. Exclusive use.
2. Bank and Credit Cards (click on the arrows in circle)
3 QB message "connection complete" , then 'Updating" (nothing happens)
4. Go to File, Utilities, Import, Webconnect, (Asked to select bank: Use Existing QB Account, or Create a New Account. Does NOT Recognize teh Amex account I have used for years.
5. Updated the connect to the bank by Activating and Deactivating the Credit Card NUMEROUS times.
Sometimes this works for a month--then back to the hellish time of trying to figure it out again.
Please advise
I hear your sentiments, @safoglio. I'm here to provide troubleshooting solutions about AMEX bank feeds not working in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
I suggest ensuring you have connected to the correct American Express (AMEX) Credit card account to continue downloading the latest transactions from online banking services. You'll have to select American Express Card QBDT since the bank feed for American Express @work isn't available now, and we're working with American Express to fix this.
If you haven't refreshed your connection for Express Web Connect already, please follow the steps outlined in this article to ensure the latest transactions will be automatically downloaded to your bank feeds: Refresh your connection for Express Web Connect online banking.
If everything is accurately selected, I suggest contacting our Technical Support Team. I understand you've already reached out to them. However, it would be best to contact them again. They have the tools to look into your account and perform a screen-sharing session to investigate this behavior further.
We're always here in the Community to help if you have other questions about managing bank transactions in QBDT. We're just around to help. Stay safe.
Support has nothing to say. I am on QB Enterprise Professional and the American Express QBDT does not work. I get a message saying to try in a few hours 7500. It does not work in a few hours. I have tried connecting to the AE Website and downloading a statement but that does not work. Can someone please tell me how to download the information from American express to the feeds? This started to happen the moment I upgraded QB to the 2024 edition so I am thinking that is the problem.
You'll have to connect your American Express first to download the information from your Amex to the bank feeds, @Carolexx. Let me provide information below about the error message and how to resolve it.
To start with, error code 7500 indicates there's a permission issue with your Intuit Account. When performing a bank feeds download, you must sign in as the primary admin for the Intuit Account connected to the company file. You can follow the steps listed below.
Step 1: Find the primary admin in the product information window.
Step 2: Before you connect your bank feeds again, make sure the correct user ID shows in your company file.
The user ID must match the email from Step 1. If not, the primary admin needs to download the bank feeds, or you can sign out and sign back in with the correct user ID.
Once verified, reconnect your AMEX account for bank feeds in QBDT and download your information from American Express to the bank feeds.

Your saying every time I want to download the monthly transactions from bank feeds, our CFO, who is considered the "admin" will have to take time from her busy day to hop onto QB and sign in, download the feeds? She designated me to enter all the transactions, reconciliations, reports, and actually all but payroll in Quickbooks, but you're now telling me she will have to take time out of her busy day to do the downloads every month or provide me with the credentials to do this myself which I'm sure is what will happen and is what is happening to everyone with this same problem. Whose brilliant idea was this?
I have the same issue from years ago with no solution. I want one of the delegated users (who do not have full access) to use the QBDT option and it seems like QBDT is only available to admin user. So we have to use the other amex bank feed option (not qbdt) which can be delegated, but we prefer to use qbdt (If it can be delegated). Glad someone else is posting about this now !!!!!!!!!!!
This has been a nightmare since January 2025. For whatever reason, one of our AMEX cards won't update. The main cardholder login is used and even when we disable and re-establish the connection, it shows connection successful but won't download transactions. Support says it's AMEX fault. AMEX shows where they have authorized 3rd party access and throws it back to QB. This is exhausting. We've been on with support over 5 times now with no success, and their newest solution is to start a new company file.......really?! Our other AMEX card is working fine and downloads transactions perfectly. We've even created a new credit card account to link to, and still no success. We have over 500 transactions on this card monthly and to now have to manually enter would be inefficient. We have to reconcile this card daily due to the number of transactions. PLEASE tell me someone has figured this out!
We had exact same issue. I finally gave up and manually download the transactions.
