Bank Account not Found

Hi there QB community thank you for all of your help in advance. I am struggling to find my bank account,Truist, that was once powered by BB&T in QuickBooks. When searching on the QuickBooks link account page, it gives me three options for BB&T and only one of them you were able to connect with. The others ask for you to import documentation over from the banking site. If anybody could help me determine how to find the missing bank account on QuickBooks, or tell me how to Import the banking data from my account over to QuickBooks, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you all again.

Bank Account not Found

Hi there, Willifk.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing different details to ensure you're able to connect your account in QuickBooks.

QuickBooks Online allows you to connect as many accounts as you need to automatically download recent transactions. However, there are some possible reasons why you're unable to find or connect to your bank when you search it:

  • Your bank doesn't connect to all types of accounts, such as personal accounts vs. business accounts.
  • Your financial institution has multiple names on our list.
  • The bank isn't a participating financial institution.

To help fix this, I'd suggest using either the bank name or URL to ensure you're using the correct listing when you add the account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking from the left menu.
  2. Select Add Account.
  3. Use either the bank name or URL in the Search box.
  4. Search for your financial institution and choose it from the list..
  5. Select the link for your bank's website to open the bank's website.
  6. Make sure you can access your account through this site by verifying that you can see your account information without any errors.
  7. If you access the account successfully, log out of the financial institution's website. Then, continue to add the account in the program.

If you have tried all the options matching your bank's name and still can't connect, I suggest requesting support from your bank. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select Add account.
  3. Search for the name of your financial institution. If QuickBooks is unable to find your bank, you will get the message, "Hmm, we can’t find [name of the bank you entered] in our list of supported banks," and you will be presented with helpful tips to try and locate your bank account.
  4. If you’re still unable to find your bank, select Request support for your bank.
  5. Enter your bank's web address (URL) in the field provided, then select Request.

For additional information, you can click this article: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking.

In the meantime, you can manually upload the bank transactions into QuickBooks Online. You can click on this article on how to perform the steps: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online. After that, transactions will add to your Online banking.

On the other hand, if you're trying to connect your bank in QuickBooks Desktop and unable to find it in the system, it could be the account type isn't supported. That said, you still have the option to use the Web Connect feature in QBDT to import the transactions so they become available in your Bank Feeds. You can open this article to view details on how to achieve this process: Set up bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, I'm adding the articles below on how you review downloaded bank and credit card transactions by matching or adding them to avoid duplicate entries.

Please keep in touch with me here should you need any further assistance with uploading your bank data in QuickBooks. I'll make sure to assist you.

It's not a matter of walking through the steps, we've been connecting for years.  Now it does not work.  Quickbooks will not connect with Truist.  I've tried every work-around for days.  Including de-activating and setting up a new log in.  It appears that Truist does not work in with the browser that QuickBooks Desktop uses to open the bank site.   This needs to be fixed.

Thank you for the prompt reply, @NCT3CH. I'm here to help you out with your online banking concern in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

I used a test account in QBDT and searched for Truist, I got one result: Truist Digital Treasury

The available download method for this bank account at this time is Web Connect. This means you can download .QBO files from your bank's website, and save them on your computer. You can then import these transactions so they appear in your bank feeds.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu, highlight Bank Feeds, then select Import Web Connect Files.
  2. Look for the .QBO file in question, then tap Open.
  3. You'll see a prompt to Select Bank Account, your options are:
    • Use an existing QuickBooks account if the account you're importing transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks.
    • Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you're importing transactions into isn't in QuickBooks yet.
  4. Tap Continue, then OK.
  5. Move to the Bank Feeds Center to review the transactions.

Open this article for additional information about this process: Set up bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop

If you bump into any errors while uploading .QBO files, keep this article for future reference: Fix Web Connect import errors

Let me know in the comments below if you have other questions about online banking in QBDT. I'll be right around the corner if you need further assistance. Enjoy the rest of the day!

Bank Account not Found

Truist  website says they work with QB Pro Desktop 2021 but it does not. They told me to use BB&T online banking as the bank name even though I had SunTrust, but it would not log me in. I can log into www.bbt.com (which redirects to Truist. I will give it a week to see if they clear up the issue then I am changing banks.

Bank Account not Found

Hi! I had the same issue and after multiple times trying, I decided to try SunTrust (now Truist) and it started connecting but it didn't go through since for verification purposes is sending a code to a phone number that is no longer in service. I went to the clients' settings and updated her phone number but it still sending the code to the old number.  If the phone number was updated, I was going to be able to make a bank connection. I have contacted QBO for almost 2 months and no one has helped me with this issue. QBO sucks! I wish I could go back to Intuit Online Payroll 200% better than this.

I know that this has been longer than we expected to fix the issue with your client's phone number, @Darielyz.

I'm here to provide more information to resolve this. I understand that before renewing the phone number, the system will send a code to the old one to verify the account details changes. Since you've mentioned that your client's phone number is already inactive, I suggest sending a request to recover your client's account.

Your client will be asked to fill-up the form and submit documents to our account protection team to recover their account. Once your client gets back into their account, see these steps to change their phone number:

  1. Log in to your QBO account.
  2. Click the profile/logo icon next to the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Click Manage your Intuit Account.
  4. Go to the Sign in & security tab.
  5. Update the Phone number and other necessary details.
  6. After updating the details, make sure to save the changes.

I'm adding this article for more details: Change your email, user ID, or password for QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Accountant, and Qui...

Furthermore, you can follow the steps written in the Reset your login information for QuickBooks Online article whenever you need guidance to update your account or client information.

I always want to see you smiling and grow your business bigger. Please remember to post a comment if you have other concerns with your client or your QuickBooks account. I'm here to back you up. Stay safe and well.
