Banking Alert won't go away

On the Banking and Credit Cards page of Quickbooks Online, there is a button (with a bell icon) labeled: "Banking Alerts".  Every time I log in (whether on the app or via chrome) the alert is "red" and says I have one "new" alert - but - it's the same alert from March 28, 2019 that reads: "We're working with Citizens Bank to fix your connection. You'll see an alert here as soon as there is an update."  However, I have no issues updating from Citizens Bank and this alert won't go away. Please help.

Banking Alert won't go away

Hi there, KTtalk.

I appreciate you for joining us in this thread and for trying the suggestions provided by my colleagues. Let me provide some steps to sort out this unexpected behavior.

Banking alert means there's a message on your bank's website that requires your acknowledgment. To resolve, sign in to the bank's website and check if there are any new terms of service, an announcement about maintenance, or other site changes and a recent offer. Also, please make sure that there are no pending notifications from your online banking account.

If you don't see any notifications from the bank account, you may need to configure your pop-up blocker to see them.  Once done, please sign back in again using your QBO account.

If you get the same result, I recommend contacting our Live Support. They have the resources to identify what's causing this issue and help isolate it by initiating a viewing session. Please refer to the steps provided by MikiD.

I'm just a post away should you have any other questions. Wishing you and your business success.

Banking Alert won't go away

Hi @kathrin,

As of this time, there isn't an option to remove banking alerts in QuickBooks Online.

This is to notify our users like you since we continue to receive updates from your bank.

In the meantime, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Support. This way, you'll be able to confirm if there's a connection issue with your bank.

Here's how you can contact our support:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Contact us.
  3. Enter Citizens Bank in the How Can we help? field.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select Start messaging or Get a callback.

In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about contacting our support: Contact the QuickBooks Online Customer Support Team.

Please let me know in the comment section below if you have any other questions. It'll be always my pleasure to help.

I have the same alert.  Very annoying!  I don't need to confirm with Customer Support whether there was a connection issue with my bank in March.  Once I read the alert, Banking alerts should stop telling me I have a new alert.  It's not new - I already read it multiple times.  If you are the QuickBooks Team why would you not contact customer support to fix the bug in the software?

Hi there, rsaumure.

The possible reason why you're seeing this error message is that your bank might have an on-going issue. It'll be gone if the issue is resolved.

Let's perform some steps and see if the error message will stop displaying.

You can manually update your bank in the Banking page. Doing so does not only downloads the bank transactions but also syncs updates from your bank to QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking.
  2. Choose the bank that you want to update.
  3. Click the Update button.

You can get back to us and let us know how it goes.

The date of the Notice is March 28.  If I perform the update the alert does not go away.  If I read the alert it will go away only to reappear the next time I return to the Banking page.  What good are alerts if they are false alerts?

Thanks for getting back to us, @rsaumure.

You can update your bank account sign-in information to remove the banking alerts on the Banking page. I'd be glad to walk you through the steps.

As mentioned by my colleague Jonpril_L, the possible reason for this "Banking alerts" is the connection issue with your bank. To remove this, you'll need to update your bank account sign-in information.

Here's how:

  1. Click Banking.
  2. Select Update.
  3. Enter your updated username and password.
  • If Error 103 appears, select the Reconnect my account link and enter your new username or password.
  • If no error message appears, select the Edit (pencil) icon next to the bank name, select Edit sign-in info, and enter your updated bank website username or user ID and password.

               4. Select Save and connect.

               5. Click I'm done, Let's go! once you see the confirmation message.

Here's an article for your reference: How to Update your Bank Account Sign-in Information.

In case you need tips and related articles in the future, visit our QuickBooks Community help website for reference: QBO Self-help.

That's it! Please let us know if you have any other questions managing your bank account. We're always here to help.

@Mark_R:The suggested remedy does not work and my pesky false alert persists.

My QBO account auto connects to the bank fine for its automatic updates, but the month old alert does not ever go away as per the frustrated @rsaumure.....

While not an inhibition to working in QBO, it is tremendously annoying to have a old alert that keeps recycling itself when there does not appear to be any actual connection problem.

This might have something to do with your browser, eggslnt.

To confirm, try logging in on a private window. Here’s how:

  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Internet Explorer or Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

Being not able to see the alert privately indicates the said issue. Switching to a different browser would also help to fix this. Below are the ones supported by QuickBooks Online:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari 11 or newer
  • Microsoft Edge

If this won’t work, I’d recommend contacting our support team. They’ll be able to help you investigate this further.

Here’s how you can reach out to them:

  1. In QuickBooks, click Help at the top.
  2. Select Contact us.
  3. Enter your concern about the Banking Alert.
  4. Click Let’s talk.
  5. Hit Get a callback.

Always consider posting your questions here if you have other concerns.

Is this really solved? It looks like the author of the message is still having the issue as am I. I have followed all of the suggestions to no avail. I have 2 messages that are over a month old that will not go away. Very annoying.

4 years later I am looking for an answer and nope - the issue persists.  I tried all their suggestions: reconnected bank, clicked the x on the message, no message on the bank site, I use incognito so there are no cookies or other cache issues.  We're nearly out of April and the message appeared on the 9th of March.

I have this exact issue and have done all these suggested fixes to no avail. It is just crazy that this post string began in 2019 and Quickbooks still has not fixed it!  Also just weird they have it marked as solved - what?? C'mon you guys, create a patch or something that allows us all to click on the alert and delete it - every time I sign on now I just roll my eyes that it is still sitting there from over a month ago, and now see I may have this stupid alert for as long as I use QBO. UGH!
