Hello there, klickel.
I understand that adjusting to changes in the invoicing experience can be challenging.
I know how helpful it was to have the ability to turn custom transaction numbers off for your business. I would also feel less amused if a useful feature in the old invoice layout isn't available in the new one.
Additionally, I see that you've already sent feedback multiple times about this matter. I still recommend sending feedback again. Rest assured, our product development team is taking note of all the ideas and is reviewing them for possible consideration. The more requests they receive, the more chances it'll be prioritized.
Here's how to submit feedback:

@klickel RE: I gave feedback on this issue several times but nothing was done to fix it. The key source of the problem is you can't turn off custom invoice numbers. There is a button to turn this off but everytime a new invoice is generated it turns back on.
The New invoices appear to be buggier than a termite mound.
But, you know, they're better than before! Soon you'll just love them, I've been told by Intuit employees.
Is this issue being worked on? It's very time-consuming to number invoices and make sure there are no duplicates. This needs to be addressed asap.
I understand that resolving this issue is of utmost importance to you, @Anonymous32. This isn't the experience we would like you to have and want you to know that we take your concerns seriously.

Starting today we can't turn off custom transaction numbers either. Appears to save and then resets every time we even open the invoice screen to view, edit or create an invoice, the account-wide setting is mysteriously reset.
Tried chatting with support, did a screen share to show this, and have not been able to get a clear answer about what's happening (is it a bug and you're working on it? Is it a change in feature support? something else?). All I can get is "Here's the thing, if you already turn on your sales setting before. Please know that you're not be able to turn it off due to the new layout updated." I don't know what that means.
Hello there, Chris. I'll add details about turning off transaction numbers on invoices.
As I have checked, there are no current reports about this issue. Sometimes, browsers can become overloaded with frequently accessed page resources such as cache and cookies, leading to unexpected behavior. It could be the reason why you're unable to turn off the transaction numbers on invoices.
To verify, let's open your QuickBooks Online(QBO) account in a private or incognito window to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to save time:
If everything looks good when using an incognito browser, clear your regular browser's cache. Otherwise, switch to different supported browsers to help narrow down the cause of this behavior.
If the issue continues, I recommend contacting QuickBooks Online Support once more. It's worth noting that they have access to specialized tools and resources that could aid in resolving your concern.
Additionally, you can run various customer reports to monitor your sales and ensure they're accurate. Then, personalize them to focus on specific accounts.
Feel free to comment below for further concerns about managing your sales form content. Keep safe, and have a wonderful day.
The support chat representative was finally able to confirm that this was a bug in Quickbooks and that it was being fixed.
