Making sure that you're able to connect your bank is my priority, @leapinfrog1.
First, what is the name of the bank you're having difficulty in connecting with QuickBooks? This is for me to further investigate to determine the root cause why it's not updating.
In the meantime, QuickBooks connection to your financial institution is a read-only type. The system depends on the data your bank shares with us. Also, here are some some factors that you'll need to consider when downloading bank transactions which may cause the issue that you have:
Let's apply the following troubleshooting steps to rectify this issue.
a. Go to the Banking menu.
b. Select the Banking tab.
c. Locate the bank account that the transactions should be posted.
d. From the Update drop-down, select Update Now.
e. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials.
f. Click Continue Update.
Once completed, your transactions will display in the For Review tab. You can start reviewing and assigning expense categories to each imported transactions. However, if you have a lot of transactions that were not downloaded in QuickBooks, you can import it in QuickBooks through WebConnect. You can read through these articles for more details about the process:

Hello, Michaelnow63.
I know how it feels and frustrated it is when everything seems not to work on your end. Let's isolate this case using a private window to verify if this is related to your browser issue.
There are times that the browser stores frequently-accessed data, thus causing some errors or unusual behavior.
Let's try logging in to your QuickBooks Online account using a private or a different browser. Here's how:
Once logged in, go back to your banking page and try to link your account. If it rectifies the problem, clear the browser's cache. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Or you can use other compatible browsers. It could be that the one you're currently working on has a temporary issue with QuickBooks.
If the same thing happens, I recommend reaching out to our customer support team. One of our representatives will able to pull up your account in a secure session and help you review your account.
