I am setting up QBO for a new small business. The business uses Valley Bank (valley.com). I have successfully linked my business checking account, no problem. I have a Visa business credit card also from Valley. Valley has a completely separate login screen for this, https://cardmanager.valley.com/?product=Valley. It uses the same username as the checking account, but a different password. QBO does not recognize the different login URL and the different password won't work at the regular valley.com account setup (obviously, it's trying to connect to the checking). I saw some previous trouble ticket discussions on this issue, but the resolution didn't seem clear. Does anyone know if this has been resolved?
Let me help take care of your concern, Kayak2021.
When you're adding multiple accounts for the same bank in QuickBooks Online, you'll want to verify how your financial institution sends your downloaded transactions. If it downloads only to one account, you can create a subaccount and connect it to the main one.
To do this:
Check out the following articles for more information about managing accounts:
Here's an article that you might find helpful when matching and managing your downloaded transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
For additional resources about managing your banking transactions, you can check out the topics from this link: Find help with bank feeds and reconciling accounts for QBO.
Please let me know how else I can help you with linking bank accounts by adding a comment below. I'm more than happy to help. Have a good one!
Utilize the trial version of SlickConnect to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank.

@Charies_M, I think I understand what you're describing and I read the articles. However, I seem to get different prompts on the New Category screen. Maybe you can clarify. After I select New, the next screen's options are "Category name" and "Create category under." Both of these have an asterisk for required. Under "Create category under" there is a link to "Select category," of which "Bank and Credit Cards" is an option. I do not understand the account type and detail type you describe and I do not see the "Is sub-account" option.
Thanks for the update, @Kayak2021. Let me share details about the New category screen you're seeing when creating a new account on your Chart of Accounts (COA) in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You're already on the right track in adding a new category in QBO. You've clearly described the upgraded format when adding an account to your COA. The account type and detail type described above is the former arrangement when adding a new category. That's why you're not seeing the Is sub-account option.
For a newly created QBO company, you'll experience an upgraded COA. The new structure is customized based on your business organization. With this, you'll have to input all the necessary details that describe the account you want to add (i.e., Category and Account type). Then, select Save once you're done. Please see the screenshot below for your reference.
Then, connect your bank and/or credit card account to the online banking feature. This will let QuickBooks automatically download recent transactions. For the step-by-step guide, you can refer to this article: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.
Once connected and your most recent transactions are downloaded, you'll have to review and/or match them to the existing entries in QuickBooks. This way, you can keep your financial data updated. You can check out this article for the complete details: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Also, I'm adding these articles to learn more about what account types are on the chart of accounts and how to reconcile one in QBO:
Please don't hesitate to keep me posted on how it goes. Let me know in the comments if you have other concerns about managing accounts on your chart of accounts in QBO. I'm always around to help. Take care and stay safe, @Kayak2021.
@Rea_M this did not solve the problem. I am not trying to add an expense category. I want to connect my credit card account to QBO just like I connected my checking account. From there I assume transactions from the credit card will start appearing, automatically assigned to existing categories, and then I can confirm them and reassign them to categories if desired, etc. The problem I'm having is that QBO will not let me add a second account for Valley National Bank and QBO does not have a separate Valley accounts link specifically for Valley Visa Business Credit Card. I have already added my Valley Business Checking in the standard process (easy). For the credit card, Valley has a different login url that doesn't seem to be recognized by QuickBooks. For the main bank I go to business.valley.com and for the Visa I go to cardmanager.valley.com. They use the same username but different passwords. QBO has only one Valley link, and it doesn't work for cardmanager.valley.com. I do not want to have to manually enter my credit card transactions all year long. There must be some way that other people who bank with Valley have figured out how to do this. Thank you.
Appreciate the info, @Kayak2021.
I have more steps we can try to get your Valley Business Credit Card connected. You'll want to log in to your credit card account through a different browser then copy and paste the bank’s sign-in web address (URL) into the search field. For example www.bank.com/sign-in. Then, continue the steps to connect the account.
If you're still unable to connect, you can request by clicking the Request button. Just enter the bank's name and the URL. See the images below.
Meanwhile, you can download your credit card transactions manually. Refer to this guide for details: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
In case you need help with matching and reconciling your bank and credit card accounts, check out these links below.
Let me know how it goes after trying the above steps as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Take care and have a great day ahead.
I probably wouldn't consider this solved because I cannot add my credit card account. I completed the request as described in the last post, adding the bank name Valley Visa® Business Credit Card and the url https://cardmanager.valley.com/. I don't know how long it takes for a request to be processed. I would consider this solved after that is processed. The manual upload feature is a band-aid, not a real solution. The process you offered for adding an unrecognized bank is useful though, so if that's what you mean by 'solved' then I guess that's it. Thank you.
Hello QB Team,
Do you have any updates on this? I would love to connect my Valley bank credit card into QB so I can stop the manual transactions.
I've filed complaints (or requests) with Valley. It's really on their end, not a Quickbooks fault or problem. Valley's credit card set-up is actually a third party thing underneath a Valley bank account, but with a Valley label attached. I guess most credit cards are like that, but for whatever Valley's system is, it won't add with the other bank accounts like checking or saving. I also tried it on Waveapps accounting and got the same result. I was so tired of it I dropped Valley Bank.
Hello there, Cube1 and Kayak2021.
To @Kayak2021, Thank you for sharing your insights about connecting Silicon Credit Card to QuickBooks Online.
If you've tried linking your account, however, your Silicon Bank credit card isn't supported, I have tried it on our end and see your bank as one of the lists of the supported financial institution.
You can check the steps and screenshots below:
If you're still unable to connect, you may consider reaching out to your bank's support for further assistance.
Once connected, you can match and categorize your transactions. Then, reconcile to ensure they are accounted for properly.
Keep me updated on how the steps turn out. I'll be here to help you further.
@GlinetteC , please re-read the post. We were not trying to add a SiliconBank card. The issue is with Valley Bank and their Business Credit Card. We've tried all the solutions above and the one you've posted. The problem seems to be with Valley Bank. The bank accounts add in fine, but the credit card doesn't show or reconcile along with regular checking and savings accounts. I've tried it in Waveapps accounting software and it does the same thing. Is there any chance Quickbooks would work with Valley Bank to help them fix it? It seems like the problem is on Valley's end, not Quickbooks. They stand to lose customers because nobody wants to stand for doing manual transaction uploading every month or however often you choose to reconcile your accounts.
Hello there, Kayak2021.
The transactions that your bank permits to sync with QuickBooks are what the software uses. Even though I would love to assist you, it's an issue with Valley Bank's end. I suggest reaching out to them so they can help you with the settings.

Use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo) as a workaround.

I want to provide you with some information regarding our current connection with Valley Bank, judylk1225.
While QuickBooks Online fully supports their checking account, we don't integrate with the business credit card's separate login URL (https://cardmanager.valley.com) at this time. Please know that our software engineers are constantly working to improve and expand our integration capabilities with various financial institutions.
For now, you'll want to send feedback to add your provider. Simply click the Request button, then add their name and official link. We will certainly keep your needs in mind as our team explore future opportunities to provide you with the best bank feed experience.
To obtain your transactions, consider using a third-party importer as suggested by Fiat Lux - ASIA. Feel free to visit our QB App Market to search for more.
Alternatively, you can manually upload your bank transactions to keep your accounting up-to-date. Start by logging in to your bank's website to download them as QBO, CSV, or QFX files.
Make sure it's in the correct format. After that, follow these steps to upload the file.
Once done, it's time to categorize and match them. Next, reconcile your accounts, so they always match your monthly statements.
