Connect bank account (foreign currency) from COA to my bank

I created my bank account with foreign currency GBP (home currency is USD) then I went to Bank Feeds to connect to my bank But I cannot find any Connect button to choose.

Besides, I tried to Click on link account to my bank from Bank feed but as result QBO automatically assigns my home currency USD to this account.

It is any problem with my QBO?

Please help check and advise

Connect bank account (foreign currency) from COA to my bank

A pleasant day to you, Alice92.

Let me help you connect your bank account from the Chart of Accounts (COA) and avoid changing foreign currency to home currency QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The Connect bank option won't be available to those accounts in COA that have already been connected to online banking.

Moreover, you can see a symbol of two arrows pointing in opposite directions signifying that it's linked to online banking. Feel free to see the image below as a reference:

Furthermore, to avoid changing your bank transactions currency, I recommend manually uploading the transactions in QBO. The home currency will reflect if your bank is linked to the account and uploads transactions automatically.

However, if it's not connected and the Connect bank button isn't visible, let's perform some basic troubleshooting steps by logging into your account via a private browser to avoid storing cache data files. You can utilize the shortcut keys below:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If this works, clear the cache of your regular browser to remove piled-up data. If the issue persists, you can use another supported browser or device

Moreover, if you encounter duplicate transactions, feel free to read this article on how to handle them: Match bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Let us know if you have additional banking connectivity concerns by replying to this post. We'll be willing to lend a hand. Take care, and enjoy the rest of the week.

Connect bank account (foreign currency) from COA to my bank

Thanks for updating us and implementing the suggestions to rectify your bank connection issue, @Alice92. I have another way to help you connect your account to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We can disconnect your bank account connection and reconnect it. This process will ensure the integration stays linked properly with the bank account's accurate details such as the currency. Please note that this will delete transactions that still need to be categorized in the For Review tab. If the transactions are older than 90 days, you won't be able to download them into QuickBooks again.

Here's how to disconnect:

  1. Go to Transactions, then Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the tile for the bank account.
  3. Click the Pencil ✎ icon, then select Edit account info.
  4. Select the Disconnect this account on save checkbox.
  5. Choose Save and Close.

Once done, let's go to your Chart of Accounts to reconnect the existing account. Make sure to select the correct account and review its currency. Here's how:

  1. From the Cog Wheel, select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the bank account, then click the dropdown beside View register and select Connect bank.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to make a connection.

If you still don't have the Connect bank button, I recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team for further investigation. They can initiate a screen-sharing session to accurately pinpoint the main cause of this issue.

Once everything's fine, remember to always categorize your transactions and reconcile them so they always match your bank and credit card statements.

The Community team is always around if you have additional questions regarding your banking connection in QuickBooks. Always leave your reply below.

Connect bank account (foreign currency) from COA to my bank

Hello Nicole,

I have tried as you instructed. However, when I want to connect the bank from bank account created on Chart of Account, I clicked on View Register of that account, it appears only Edit/Make in active (reduce usuage)/Run report, I don't see Connect Bank option. I will need to contact Support team about this

Thanks
