Hello there, SR.
I see the importance of linking your QBO to your online banking. However, you're connected to a financial institution that isn't yet supported to link the application. I'm here to help you with what we can do.
At the moment, I recommend sending a request to support a connection with it by following the steps provided below:
In the meantime, if you want to upload your transactions. You can read through this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to read these articles to be guided with what you can do after uploading your transactions:

It is finally working.
I used American Express Corporate or Personal Credit Card (US).
It has my business and personal credit cards and since a week or two my business checking account as well.
The only thing is that it keeps asking for account verifications each time I log into Quickbooks.
This is still not working for me. Credit cards do sync but not the business checking account. Please advise.
Thanks for chiming in the thread, kelvin. I'll ensure you're concern will be investigated and addressed it well.
With that, since you've still got the same concern. I'll route you to our QuickBooks Support team to check further about connecting the American Express Business Checking account. You can also request a screen-sharing session with our live support team. I'll guide you with the steps below to connect with them.
Here's how:

Hello @GebelAlainaM , thanks for the reply.
I did that yesterday before resorting to posting here. I spent maybe 30 minutes looking at the issue with the support tech while he was supervising using the Glance app. At the end, he told me that this was an issue with American Express and to submit an issue with them. I asked him to please provide me with a case number and he said he would email it to me which he never did. I am not entirely sure that this is an American Express issue and I think maybe the developers need to take a closer look. Can you please forward my case to them since the support tech did not.
I just double checked and Mint is syncing just fine. Seems to be a Quickbooks issue only.
kelvin, what American Express bank are you connecting to? There are several to choose from.
I got it connected using the American Express (Banking) but it won't pull any transactions before 01/01/23.... despite setting the date to last year. It also asks to login every time I sync. Basically useless.
Good afternoon, @MiguelFacusse.
Thanks for chiming in on this thread. I appreciate you coming here and expressing your banking concern.
QuickBooks Online automatically imports the last 90 days worth of transactions. You'll have to manually import anything older than that. Here's how:
As a future reference, review this guide about banking errors to help you out.
I hope this helps and gets you squared away. I'm only a comment away if you need me. Have a splendid day!
Well, it worked for about a week and they changed something and it is not available anymore.
Quickbooks and American Express really have to come up with something, this is beginning to be very annoying.
I also opened up an American express business checking account earlier in january and for the life of me I can't get it to connect to QuickBooks se. None of the options including American Express Banking (Checking) doesn't seem to work. It just says "Looks like the connection to American Express (Banking) isn’t available right now."
Thanks for joining in on this thread, Stanri010.
I know how essential it is for you to link your American Express (AmEx) Business Checking account to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). Currently, this financial institution isn't supported yet by Intuit.
Don't worry. We can send a request to support the connection of AmEx Business Checking to QBSE, and I'll show you how:
In the meantime, you can manually add single transactions from your bank into QBSE and categorize them into the correct accounts.
Feel free to get back to us if you have more questions about setting up a bank connection. We'd be more than glad to answer them. Have a nice day.
I'm getting:
Looks like the connection to American Express (Banking) isn’t available right now.
Try again in a few hours. (102)
Thanks for joining the thread, @niknok.
I've checked here on my resources and found out that there's an ongoing investigation into connecting American Express to the program. That said, our Engineers are aware of this and are working on a solution to fix it as soon as possible. I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. This way, they can add you to the list of affected users and will soon receive a notification once troubleshooting is available.
To get you going, these are the steps:
For further guidelines, see this page: QuickBooks Online Support.
Aside from that, I've got you this article to help you handle bank transactions inside your company: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
It's a pleasure to have you here today, @niknok. Don't hesitate to post here again if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns or need help performing tasks. I've got your back. Stay safe!
Apparently, the Quickbooks integration will be done by American Express by the end of Q2/Q3. This is what the Amex support team just told me.
It's worth highlighting to Amex, in addition to QuickBooks, that they need to collaborate with QB's to establish a connection. I observed that Amex bank accounts lack the ability to download transactions as CSV files, so this makes me believe this is more of an Amex issue than QBO.
I've only been able to download PDF statements from our AMEX Business Checking account. There's no other format available.
And if the QB team is monitoring this, let's not forget the QBDT people too - especially since we just shelled out $500+ for our annual subscription!!!!
I am able to download CSV for my AMEX Business Checking
Still getting the same message weeks later. *sigh*
Hello, vj_.
This thread is tagged under QuickBooks Online and Self-Employed. Which product are you currently using?
Also, can I have the exact error message you encountered when connecting your AMEX account? Screenshots are also welcome.
