I’m glad to see you in the Community, powerdriveexpres.

Let me help make sure you can connect your checking account to QuickBooks Online (QBO). We’ll have to go to the Transactions page and link the account from there. It’ only takes a few clicks to get there.

Here’s how:

  1. In QBO (QBO), press the Transactions menu on the left panel and choose Banking.
  2. Tap the Connect account or Link account menu in the upper left to open the Connect an account page.
  3. Enter your Financial Institution’s name in the search field and select it.
  4. This action will take you to the Sign in to account screen.connect bank.png
  5. Click the Continue button and then key in your banking user name and password.connect bank.1.png
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection process.
  7. Then pick your checking account and select the account type. Make sure it matches the one in your chart of accounts (QBO).
  8. Set how far back you want to download the entries and click Connect.

Check the following reference for more insights into this process: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online. It includes instructions on how to link your bank or credit card from the chart of accounts.

Also, this resource will guide you on how to classify downloaded entries. You’ll also learn about reviewing and matching transactions. Click here to view the complete details.

Keep in touch if you have other banking concerns. I’ll get back to make sure this is taken care of for you. Have a great weekend.

That doesn’t answer my. Question. I know how to do that. If I use plaid to link my Quickbooks checking account what bank do I choose from the list? Green Dot bank won’t let me connect unless I have an account directly through them.

Thanks for getting back to us, @powerdriveexpres.

I'll share some information about Plaid and QuickBooks. Plaid enables companies that need access to your financial data, like Gusto, TransferWise, and American Express, to verify and communicate with your bank account.

That said, you'll want to connect your Financial Institutions' account to QuickBooks to automatically sync transaction data between the two. Just follow the above steps on how to connect.

Additionally, here's a link that covers all the tasks you can do when using the banking feature in QuickBooks: Find help with bank feeds and reconciling accounts.

Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns with bank account connections. I'm more than happy to assist you. Take care and have a nice day ahead.

What you’re not understanding is that the question pertains to connecting with books as a checking account to a service that needs to access the QuickBooks checking account. Plaid is used to do this but we don’t know what type of account to select for the QuickBooks checking account as the financial institution. I really hope this question comes across clearly.

Hi, I am also trying to connect my QBO checking account with my Gusto account to run payroll. It looks like Plaid does not recognize Quickbooks as an option and we have to connect manually. That process is fine, but it takes 1-2 days and if the account ever has problems transferring funds it can take days before the issue is resolved. With small business, days are very costly.

Is it possible to connect a QBO Checking account from a third party website using Plaid?

I have some details that I want to share with the QuickBooks Checking account and Plaid, PiMios.

For now, connecting both is unavailable. I would suggest you reach out to Plaid Support for your QuickBooks Checking account to be added as an institution. While QuickBooks Online (QBO) integrates with different kinds of business apps, you'll want to search for an app that is right for your needs.

Furthermore, once you've connected your bank and credit card accounts in QuickBooks, learn how it downloads the latest transactions, It tries to look for a match with those you've already entered in QuickBooks. For more information, read this article for more details: Categorize And Match Online Bank Transactions In QuickBooks Online.

Ping me if you have further questions about the QuickBooks Checking account. I'll always be here to help.
