Credit Card payment link

We have a relationship with a credit card firm (SpotOn) and are interested in utilizing the QB payment link on invoices to allow members to pay invoices with credit cards if they so choose. Can we continue to use the same credit card company that we have used for some time, or does QB force users to use a credit card company the QB has selected?

It's good to have back here in the Community forum, Deadwool. I'll be here to share information about payment procedures and guide you through the steps of linking it to your invoices, offering my expertise and support along the way.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), customers can pay through the QB payment link using a credit card. However, you'll need a QuickBooks Payments account first to allow customers to pay invoices directly. In this case, it isn't necessary to utilize another application since QuickBooks Payments automatically process payments for you.

Customers can continue to pay invoices using their preferred credit card as long as it's supported or compatible with QuickBooks.

Here are the lists of the accepted payment options:

  • ACH or Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or AMEX)
  • Bank Transfer

If you choose to sign up to QuickBooks Payments, we have to turn on the online payment option to enable you to send your invoices so your customers can pay online. Once done, we can now send it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Customers menu and hit Create Invoices.
  2. Select the customer from the Customer: Job dropdown. (Note: Make sure there's an email address in the Email field.)
  3. Next, to Your customer can pay online using, review the online payment options available.
  4. If you want to change the payment options, select the Change link. Select the checkboxes for the options you want to make available. Then click Save.
  5. Add the products and services you need to sell.
  6. Fill out the necessary information.
  7. Select the Main tab at the top of the invoice form.
  8. Choose the Email dropdown then select Invoice
  9. Review the invoice message. When ready, click Send.

Additionally, we can make your transactions hassle-free by saving and editing credit card types to avoid entering payment details every time you accept remittances.

Please feel free to ask any additional questions you may have, Deadwool. I'm committed to providing you with the information and guidance you need to manage your payment options in QuickBooks effectively. Keep safe, and have a good one!

@Deadwood Al

Do you need to integrate https://www.spoton.com with QB Desktop and QB Payment?

I was looking at perhaps using SpotOn with QB online but I am not sure I need to. Apparently there is another monthly charge to interface SpotOn to QB?

I thought I saw something about no upfront costs for the QB online payment option, but I also read something that said "purchase" so I'm confused. Is there any cost for QB online payments other than the percentage, 2.99% I believe.??

I have some information to provide so you'll be guided on how QuickBooks Online (QBO) works, Deadwood.

QuickBooks lets you connect with different of the most popular applications so you can automate your work and save time. As long as you're subscribed to QuickBooks, you don't have to pay anything or there are no charges when integrating with QuickBooks.

You can also check out other third-party application that works well with QuickBooks. To search for one, check out its reviews and ratings to ensure you have chosen the right one. I've added a screenshot for visual reference:

Furthermore, QuickBooks Online (QBO) also offers different kinds of reports that offer the right data for your business. You can customize them to ensure you'll get the exact information for your business and employees. I've added this article for more details: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Online

Post your reply if you need further assistance with QuickBooks and charges. I'm always right here to help you.

Let me join this thread and provide further details about your payment options in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise, @Deadwood Al

We completely understand that the payment process can be a bit overwhelming and confusing at times, and we want you to know that we're here to help you in any way we can.

In response to your inquiry, we suggest contacting SpotOn's support team to confirm if you can use their payment option in QBDT Enterprise. Although QuickBooks Payment doesn't have a subscription fee, it only charges transaction fees. However, regarding the interface charge of SpotOn, it would be best to inquire about this with their support team.

Here's an article for further reference about the fee: Standard Payment Rates.

Additionally, you can refer to this article to track your income transactions: Get started with customer transaction workflows in QuickBooks Desktop.
