We have a relationship with a credit card firm (SpotOn) and are interested in utilizing the QB payment link on invoices to allow members to pay invoices with credit cards if they so choose. Can we continue to use the same credit card company that we have used for some time, or does QB force users to use a credit card company the QB has selected?
It's good to have back here in the Community forum, Deadwool. I'll be here to share information about payment procedures and guide you through the steps of linking it to your invoices, offering my expertise and support along the way.
In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), customers can pay through the QB payment link using a credit card. However, you'll need a QuickBooks Payments account first to allow customers to pay invoices directly. In this case, it isn't necessary to utilize another application since QuickBooks Payments automatically process payments for you.
Customers can continue to pay invoices using their preferred credit card as long as it's supported or compatible with QuickBooks.
Here are the lists of the accepted payment options:
If you choose to sign up to QuickBooks Payments, we have to turn on the online payment option to enable you to send your invoices so your customers can pay online. Once done, we can now send it.

Do you need to integrate https://www.spoton.com with QB Desktop and QB Payment?
I was looking at perhaps using SpotOn with QB online but I am not sure I need to. Apparently there is another monthly charge to interface SpotOn to QB?
I thought I saw something about no upfront costs for the QB online payment option, but I also read something that said "purchase" so I'm confused. Is there any cost for QB online payments other than the percentage, 2.99% I believe.??

Let me join this thread and provide further details about your payment options in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise, @Deadwood Al.
We completely understand that the payment process can be a bit overwhelming and confusing at times, and we want you to know that we're here to help you in any way we can.
In response to your inquiry, we suggest contacting SpotOn's support team to confirm if you can use their payment option in QBDT Enterprise. Although QuickBooks Payment doesn't have a subscription fee, it only charges transaction fees. However, regarding the interface charge of SpotOn, it would be best to inquire about this with their support team.
Here's an article for further reference about the fee: Standard Payment Rates.
