Is there a way for the reference number given to a bank deposit to show in the bank register?

Hi there, AJGmc.
Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community. I'll ensure to share some details on how reference numbers work in QuickBooks Online.
The numbers showing in the Ref No. field on the Bank Register page are the transaction numbers. These are the numbers you enter in Ref no. field when creating entries like invoices, sales receipts, or expenses. That said, the ref number associated with the created bank deposit transaction won't show on the bank register. However, it'll appear in some reports like Deposit detail. You'll have to make sure that you customize the said report to show the Ref no. under the Number column.
I attached a screenshot below for visual reference.
Since deposit Ref No. is currently won't appear in the Bank register, you can enter your reference number in the Memo field so it'll reflect on your Bank Register section as a workaround.
Please refer to this article to see different details on how to find a specific entry in your account registers so you can review or edit them to make any changes: Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers.

Thanks that's a very helpful trick putting it in the memo but it does mean it's not in the same column as the reference number. As there is the window to put a reference number in the deposit I don't understand why this is not possible. I might have a touch of OCD and I want my bank register to look consistent with all the reference numbers in a neat column.
Is it possible to reorder the columns?
I'll add a few information, AJGmc.
For now, the steps provided ChristieAnn can help you get around your concern. I know, though, that it would be convenient on your part if you can easily use the reference number on the Deposit page. However, they're not associated with the reference number in the bank register.
Concerning the reorder of columns in the bank register, you're unable to do it as well. You can only filter and sort transactions from there.
