Disconnected my credit card with its acct. in QBO. I reconnected, but transactions from 2019 is missing in the bank feed. those were reconciled, do show up in the expense

Hello, jbailey666.

I have a couple of solutions you can do to bring those 2019 bank transactions back into your bank feed.

Disconnecting a bank or credit account from QBO will remove the unaccepted or uncategorized transactions from the bank feed. However, those that were added, categorized (or reconciled in your case) will stay in your account.

More details here: Disconnect or delete an account connected to online banking.

For connected accounts, some banks allow you to download more than 90 days worth of transactions. However, most of them will only allow up to the last 90 days.

Try clicking the Update button in the Banking page to see if you can bring those 2019 transactions. I recommend doing this two to three times to ensure all transactions are synced in the feed.

If not, you'll want to upload them manually with a .QBO or .CSV file. Check this article for instructions how: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

After bringing them back, start matching, categorizing or adding them. When you're ready, reconcile your credit card account.

You're more than welcome to visit this thread again if you have other concerns with QuickBooks Online. Just post them here and I'll get back to you to help you out. I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Thank you very much James for getting back to me!  The weird thing here is those missing transactions were categorized and reconciled as well. They are missing from the bank feed>categorized, but did show up in the expense tab. If I go to the AMEX in my chart of account, those transactions are also in my account register.  Any idea how this is happening?

many thanks

Jane

I took a look at the missing transactions, here is one example. It shows undefined online banking matches. I guess this is the reason. I attached an example:

Thanks for getting back to us, jbailey666.

You mentioned on your earlier post that the missing transactions were already reconciled. I'd assume that these reconciled transactions were added or matched from the Banking page.

Note that added or matched transactions in the Banking page will also reflect in your QuickBooks bank register. Even if you disconnect the actual bank account from the Banking page, those transactions will remain in your register.

Reconnecting the actual bank account in the Banking page will download the bank transactions again. This includes the reconciled ones. That's probably the reason why bank transactions no longer show their match.

Here's another reminder that I can share; Previously categorized and reconciled transactions will not appear in the Banking (Reviewed tab). Instead, they are downloaded as new bank transactions (like I've mentioned on the earlier sentences).

To avoid these new bank transactions from being added in to your QuickBook register, we can exclude them. This will prevent duplicates in your register. You can use this article for reference: Exclude expenses from downloaded bank transactions.

When reviewing your bank register, I'd recommend using your bank statement. See what bank transactions are or aren't added yet. Once you've determine the transactions, you can go back to the Banking page and categorize the transactions that weren't added or matched yet to your register.

We'll be right here if you still need additional help regarding your bank transactions. Have a great day!

Disconnected my credit card with its acct. in QBO. I reconnected, but transactions from 2019 is missing in the bank feed. those were reconciled, do show up in the expense

Thank you James! I ran into this issue as my bank transactions were not updated after 2020-5-27. I forgot to mention that I reconciled the AMEX account till 2020-5-12, then I disconnected the account with the bank; and reconnected back importing transactions after 2020-5-27 (thought those reconciled and older than 2020-5-12 shall stay in the bank>categorized.  There are no duplicated transaction. But now the odd thing is those transactions from 2019-Jan to 2020-5-12 show up only in bank register, not in the bank>categorized. and open those missing transactions, I see undefined online banking matches, instead of normally 1 online banking matches.

how do I fix these?

Hi there, @jbailey666

Those transactions from 2019-Jan to 2020-5-12 will not show under the Categorized tab since they are already reconciled. That's why they are showing in the bank register. Transactions that will appear in the Categorized tab are those newly categorize transactions.

Also, for the undefined online banking matches status, let's make sure that you add a payee and link it to the specific account for the specific transactions. However, if the same thing happens, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online care team. This way they can further investigate what causes the issue and walk you through in fixing it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon, select Contact us.
  2. From the What can we help you with? field, enter Undefined online banking matches.
  3. Click Let's talk and choose Get a call or Start a chat.

For your future reference, you may consider reading this article to guide you in reviewing your accounts to make sure they match your real-life bank statements: Reconciliation

Please know that you can always post here if you have other QuickBooks concerns. I'd be happy to help you. Take care always.

I disconnected my credit card like was posted but now its not in the banking tab and the "CONNECT" button does not even show up.   What do I do?  I was trying to reconnect because my credit card account was changed.

It's my priority for you to reconnect your credit card account for Online banking,

wtakeatooth.

There are times when a browser's cache data becomes full of the previously accessed websites or damaged. This causes the Connect button not showing up when connecting your account. To better isolate this one, let's try signing in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues.

Here's how:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

Then, try re-connecting your credit card bank account again. This time, let's go to your financial institution's website. Here's how:

  1. Go to your bank's website and enter your credentials.
  2. Copy the bank URL.
  3. Go to your QBO Banking page and select Add account.
  4. Paste your bank's online banking URL, press enter, and try connecting the credit card again.

Just in case you can't find or connect to your bank, see Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to an online banking article to troubleshoot the issue.

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime collection of data can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. You can also use other supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

Visit our Banking page for more insights about managing your bank transactions.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Feel free to reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.
