Let me share some information about importing transactions into your account, completelycrafti.
When connecting to Online banking, QuickBooks Online (QBO) automatically downloads the bank transactions for the last 90 days (or more). However, if you want to download the older bank statement you can use web connect which is you manually download it into your QuickBooks Online account. Here's how:
Pick a date range
To prevent duplicate transactions, make sure you don't import an existing transaction that is already recorded in QuickBooks, you'll need to get the date for the oldest transaction in your account.
Download transactions from your bank
For more steps, you can visit this link: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
You can also import bank transactions into QBO using Excel CSV (comma-separated values) files. Just refer to this article for the steps and details: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

What if you want to go back to the beginning of the account (like 5 years)? You have bank statements but are not able to download a CSV for transactions older than 24 months. Is the only option to do it manually?
Thanks for joining the thread, @RealEstateMom.
If you can only download 24 months of banking transactions from your bank's website, I suggest reaching out to them. They can provide you with five years worth of bank statements. This way, you can manually upload them into QuickBooks using a CSV file.
Once you have your files, follow these steps to import them into the Banking page:
Please note that there's a 1,000-line limit per upload and the maximum file size is 350 KB. If your file size is too big, you can shorten the date range and download transactions in smaller batches.
For additional reference, you can check out this article: How to manually upload transactions from your bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online.
Once your transactions are in, you can now categorize them. Then, reconcile your accounts to ensure they match your bank statements.
