How do you change the web address for your syncing bank?

QB has bank address that takes you to the generic bank sign in.  The web address is more specific for commercial link to bank and needs to be updated.

How do you change the web address for your syncing bank?

Welcome to the Community, mary-mahoningval. I appreciate your detailed information.

You can search for the bank you're working with from your Link Account screen.

Here's how:

  1. In the left navigation bar, go to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. Click Link Account.
  3. Begin your search by either entering the financial institution's URL (web address) or name in your Search field.
  4. Once you've located the appropriate one, choose it. If you can't find your bank's connection, you can manually upload transactions instead.

If the commercial link is available for your bank, and you've selected it, you can continue with connecting it:

  1. Enter the sign in details in your Login and Password fields, then hit Continue.
  2. Pick an account you want to connect and a date to pull transactions from, then press Next.
  3. Specify an account type using the Account type ▼ drop-down list.
  4. Map your account in the Existing accounts ▼ drop-down, then click Next.
  5. Select Connect, then Done.

In the event your financial institution has switched to OAuth, and you need to agree to the switch, you'll receive an email or notification when your bank is ready to switch to OAuth. You can follow the steps in our Learn about OAuth & changes to online bank connections article to update your connection.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with Online Banking which may come in handy moving forward: Connect bank & credit card accounts

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

How do you change the web address for your syncing bank?

The bank web site that QB has set up is a main generic web site.  The sign in page for the bank to get online access to the commercial account cannot be accessed thru this web site that QB has.

I have entered the web site on the link page and have requested it to be added.  QB cannot access the business bank log in site without using this URL.

How do you change the web address for your syncing bank?

I appreciate your initiative in submitting a request to add your updated URL for a commercial account to QuickBooks, Mary. Your proactive steps demonstrate a commendable effort to ensure that your business banking needs are met effectively.

In the meantime, while your request is being processed, you can consider managing your bank transactions on QuickBooks by manually uploading the transactions into QuickBooks Online (QBO). Doing so will allow you to keep your records up-to-date.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. Click the Link account dropdown, then select Upload from file.
  3. Select Drag and drop or select files and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then select Continue.
  4. In the QuickBooks account dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then select Continue.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Continue.
  6. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then select Continue.
  7. Select Yes.
  8. When you accept your transactions, select Done.

Once done, you can match and categorize your uploaded transactions.

As always, we're here to lend a hand if you have follow-up questions on requesting support from your bank to be added to the list in QBO. We'll do our best to assist. Take care.
