Hello there, userzappatim52.
If you haven't tried using logging into your account through a private browser. You can follow the shortcut keys below depending on the browser you're using. This helps us check if this is a browser-related issue.
If the payment option is showing, we can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. In case private browsing fails, you can also try switching to a different supported browser.
Also, please know that you can only contact our support team using your QuickBooks Self-Employed account. This prevents you from fraudulent activities. You can go ahead and log in to your QBSE account. Then, utilize the QB Assistant window to get in touch with them. For more details, check out this article: Contact QBSE Support.
Our support team will help you check your account information in a secure environment. This way, we can determine why the payment option is not showing in the Customize tab.

Hey there, @userzappatim52.
Thank you for providing a screenshot and performing the steps provided by my colleague above. Let me provide additional resources so you can accept customer payments in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).
Based on the error message that you've got, it seems that your level of access in the Merchant Services is what causing the issue.
If you have been added as a user by your account administrator, make sure that your role level is set to access QuickBooks Payments. This way, you can set up your account. Also, here are the types of access they can give you in QuickBooks Payments.
To fix it, I'd suggest contacting your account administrator. They are the ones who can verify your access level and change the user's permission if necessary.
Here's an article you can use as additional reference: How to change user roles for QuickBooks Payments.
Once you're ready to accept customer payments, here's how to process them in the Merchant Service Center.
Let me know how else I can help you with QuickBooks by adding a comment below. I'm more than happy to lend a helping hand. Keep safe!
