Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Select Bills to Mark as Paid Not Working

Hi,

I am trying to select a bill to mark as paid from a downloaded bank transaction and QuickBooks will not let me.  The display is scrunched up and when I maximize the window, I can see the transaction, but cannot select it.  What shall I do?

Thanks!

Sean

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Select Bills to Mark as Paid Not Working

I appreciate you for providing additional details and a screenshot above,@skline1967. This way, I can guide you with the actions you need to take care of this.

With QuickBooks Desktop, the default compatibility mode in High DPI settings for Windows is 96. Once the setting goes higher than the default, then some unexpected issues will occur. Examples are the following:

  • Missing buttons
  • Unable to select transactions
  • Hide transactions and columns
  • Blank home page

You can fix this by changing the display settings and adjust your view preferences in QuickBooks. Then, updating your Windows display setup. Let me guide you how.

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu.
  3. Type "QuickBooks" to search.
  4. Right-click the QuickBooks icon, then select Open file location.
  5. In the folder, right-click the QuickBooks.exe file and select Properties.
  6. Go to the Compatibility tab.
  7. Select the Disable display scaling on high DPI settings check box.
  8. You can also select Change high DPI settings and then Override high DPI scaling behavior.
  9. Select Apply and then OK.

After that, open QuickBooks and select the bill to mark as paid. If it works, then you're good to go. However, if the issue persists, I'd recommend continuing the troubleshooting steps provided in this article starting Step 2: Adjust your view preferences in QuickBooksFix screen issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, you'll also need to keep your QuickBooks Desktop software updated. This way, you'll have the latest features and tools to fix the unexpected behavior of the system. For the detailed steps, kindly check out this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

To minimize performance issues with the system, you'll have to optimize your server and workstation. For the complete information, I'm adding this article for your reference: Resolve QuickBooks Desktop performance issues: Manage your computers. It contains detailed instructions about RAM improvements, upgrading computers, and terminal servers to name a few.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help. Take care always.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Select Bills to Mark as Paid Not Working

Hello there, @skline1967.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate this issue. I recommend running the Verify Rebuild utility tool. This will identify data issues within a company file and resolved it. I'll guide you how:

To verify data in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities
  3. Click Verify Data.
  4. Tap Ok to continue.

To rebuild data:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Click Rebuild Data.
  4. Click OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed".

You can also check this article for more details: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

To learn more about paying bills in QuickBooks Desktop, see this article: Pay bills in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can also check this article:  Fix screen issues in QuickBooks Desktop. It contains steps on how to fix the resolution of your monitor.

I've added this article on how to Add and match Bank Feed transactions. It contains steps and links on how to add and match transactions you downloaded into QuickBooks.

These steps will not work as I have tried all of them before.  This has to do with Compatibility mode for High DPI settings. Currently it is working with the following:

Not all of your instructions correspond to what I see.  For example, I have to open High DPI Settings first.
