Buy nowI have an old (2016) check that was manually matched on the bank feed but I have to uncheck each time I reconcile the bank statement. The client confirmed with the bank that the check actually cleared (same month it was written). I just looked back at the reconciliation history by account and see that this check was reconciled in the correct month and it shows up on the report, however is the only item on that report that doesn't hyperlink to a transaction.
Any ideas how I can get the check in my reconciliation to clear?
Thanks for reaching out to us today, @mberenson.
I have some information about the unlink check in your reconciliation report. It's possible that the check was manually reconciled. I have two ways to handle this and I'm more than happy to share the steps with you.
First, you can change the reconcile status to blank to return the check back to the register. This way, you can reconcile again and link it. However, changing a reconciled transaction may cause an incorrect beginning balance of your account. If you need to completely start over, I suggest reaching out to your accountant to undo the entire reconciliation.
To change:
Lastly, you can exclude the check so it won't show up in your bank feed. Here's how to do it:
By doing so, this check won't appear in any account registers or financial reports.

Those solutions didn't work:
1. Changing the reconcile status from "C" to "blank" makes it show up on my outstanding check report and puts off my reconciliation beginning balance. The check cleared the bank but was deleted in QBO subsequent to that period's initial reconciliation. I don't know what happened in the meantime, but all reconciliations are clean since I took over this client a year ago.
2. The transaction doesn't show up in the banking menu for me to exclude. I tried this first, as the item in my reconciliation module shows it was added through the bank feed.
Thank you for the additional details, mberenson.
If the check was deleted after the reconciliation, it can cause a problem. To fix it, you can add the transaction again with the original date. Please note that it can affect the balances on your account. I recommend checking it with your accountant if there's a need to undo the reconciliation.
