I have Quickbooks Desktop 2021. I am now getting the popup "Online Banking & other services in QuickBooks 2021 were discontinued on 31/05/2024. You can no longer download transactions from your financial institution. Upgrade to QuickBooks 2024 to reactivate Online Banking."
My online banking is not working even though it is not 5/31/24 yet. Has anybody else seen this? Is there a way to get the function back without upgrading to 2024?
Hello there, @kingfish65.
I'm here to help you resolve the issue with your online banking.
The online banking feature should be working before May 31, 2024, even without upgrading to QuickBooks 2024. That said, let's ensure you have installed all the features and product improvements to ensure your QuickBooks Desktop is up to date.
Here's how:
After the said date, you will not be able to import or download transactions from your bank.

Let me know if you have questions about updating QuickBooks Desktop. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.
If you don't use any add-ons (e.g QB Payroll, QB Payment), you can keep using 2021 for good. As of QB Desktop 2022, Intuit only offers the subscription license. Only scammers offer QB Desktop 2024 with non subscription licenses.
The potential problem is the bank feed feature after May 2024. You can download *.qbo files from your bank BUT you can't import directly into your QB Desktop. If your bank provides *.csv files, you will need to use a 3rd party tool to import it into QB Desktop. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase the license from a partner.

I tried you suggestion and it did not make a difference. Thankyou for the effort.
If you don't need to run any add-ons but prefer to keep using the bank feed feature after May 2024, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA. They can share another option to consider.
Thanks for going back to this thread, @kingfish65. Let me add more details about downloading transactions in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
To start, may I know which bank you are using? This way, we can give you a more accurate response. If you could provide me with the specific error message you are seeing on your screen, that would be very helpful. Feel free to share a screenshot if possible.
If you are facing issues with Bank feeds in QuickBooks and are unable to connect or synchronize transactions in QBDT, you can try verifying the issue on your bank's website. Moreover, you can also get in touch with your financial institution and ask them to confirm if there's an issue or if system maintenance is ongoing. This may help resolve the issue and get your Bank feeds up and running again.
Bank feeds can still be used until May 31, but you won't have access to live technical support or other Intuit services that can be integrated. To know more about this, you can refer to this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.

I have a question. If services on QB 2021 are being discontinued, can you still download transactions from the bank website as a webconnect file and import them in File > Utilities > Import > Web Connect Files?
Thanks for visiting the QuickBooks Community today, @rw01. I'll chime in to share some insights about importing bank transactions in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
In QBDT, you'll be required to have a supported and active or supported subscription to the program to import the webconnect files from your bank.
Furthermore, your access to QBDT Payroll Services, Live Support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services provided by the QBDT 2021 software will be discontinued if you use an unsupported QBDT version. This also means you won't receive critical security updates, and uploading bank transactions will also be discontinued.
For more information, kindly refer to this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.
Additionally, you can visit this resource if you need to upgrade your QBDT software to a supported version: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.
Please feel free to post again or comment if you need clarification about your QBDT program. We'll always be around to assist you further.
