Online Banking question after 5/31

I have seen the notifications that several services including Online Banking will no longer work in Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2018 after 5/31.

My question is, after 5/31, does it mean that I can also no longer manually download .qbo files from bank and credit card websites to "manually" import the transactions in the system? Or will it still work to do that manually, with the only thing "not" working being the automatic built-in update system?

QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy ... (intuit.com) There is a NOTe that uploading is also disabled so to answer your question, no you will not be able to upload a downloaded bank transaction file.

But that is not the end of the world. Linked banking is not always the godsend it is touted as. If you diligently enter transactions and reconcile to your monthly statement what need is there to upload from the bank?

Online Banking question after 5/31

You guys are making a huge mistake by getting rid of Quickbooks desktop, worked at two accounting offices and have several friends nationwide that work in accounting.....ALL OF THEM HATE QBO the only ones they do have using QBO are the interns, and even when the interns are finally hired they won't use it anymore.

Another fine mess you got yourself into

@Judy D1

Getting rid? They still offer QB Desktop US and CA version. You can still purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 if required.

You sure can purchase the desktop version!!!

That's available for Mac and for Windows PC's.

But Intuit has made it a program to manage you away from desktop versions altogether.

The standalone desktop version is $349 for Mac or Windows... and its a subscription, so it will only work for a year. So if you have multiple companies that you manage, and you want to maintain QuickBooks desktop for that purpose it will cost you $349 per year, every year that you want to use it.

Going to a subscription service has its downfalls as well.

I believe then that they may have full access to the software meaning that once the subscription ends your software, unlike the non subscription desktop versions from 2021 and previous, will STOP working in their entirety. Not just the features that they decide to disable to get you to upgrade every time a new version comes out.

Actually, changing functional bank feed software to prevent someone from using the software as it had been intended and designed, could possibly be associated with legal feedback from the user community. I don't think legally that Intuit can disable existing installed desktop versions of its software stating "Security issues" with bank feeds as the reason for doing such.

That issue is yet to be determined.

Its like a car manufacture disabling the starting of your 2017 Pickup by making changes to the onboard computer on a given date because they feel the car has safety issues that they cant manage any longer, or don't wish to be held liable for.

It's really just disabling "functional software" to get you to buy the newer version.

Its a scam.... and leave it to companies like this to do that to its existing customer base that have been supporting them for years.

Not a nice way to do business in my opinion...
