QBO for AmEx

Apparently AmEx no longer offers the ability to download QBO for Savings Accounts. Instead I downloaded a CSV. I was able to pull the information but ended up showing all transactions as deposits instead of transfers. I think this had to do with selecting 2 columns instead of 1 column for dollar amounts. I counted the balance as a column. Has anyone used this method and is the correct selection 1 column since money in and out (positive and negative) in the same column? It appears that this issue began on February 1.

Has anyone tried a direct link from AmEx account. Worked OK?

QBO for AmEx

Hello there, @MVEBA.

Let's get your banking issue sorted out so you can import your transactions into QuickBooks Online (QBO) accordingly.

Once the file you download from AmEx is in the correct format,  your transactions should be uploaded to QBO correctly. Based on your description, I can tell that the issue is with your CSV file. With this, I encourage you to contact them directly to help correct the data you have.

After that, download your AmEx transactions and manually upload them into your QBO account. You can refer to this article for the step-by-step guide: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Then, you may opt to request support for your AmEx savings account. This way, you can connect it to online banking in QBO.

Also, I encourage you to reconcile your accounts in QBO regularly (every month). This helps monitor your income and expense transactions and detect possible errors accordingly. You may want to check out this article as your reference to guide you in doing and fixing reconciliations in QBO: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.

Please feel free to leave a comment if you have other payroll concerns or questions about managing employees in QBOP. I'm always ready to help. Take care, and have a great day, @MVEBA.

QBO for AmEx

That’s a great idea. I didn’t know that existed. AmEx using QBO for credit cards but not bank accounts.
