QBO is downloading from incorrect bank account

I have been a QBO user for several years with no problems. Just under a month ago my checking account stopped downloading new transactions from my bank (Northern Trust). It was really strange because the balance was correct and appeared to be updating every day. Just no new transactions. I disconnected the account, cleared all browser cache and cookies and, in an incognito window, reconnected the bank account. The balance showed as correct but all the transactions were downloading from a different account I have at the same bank. I disconnected the account and tried again but to no avail. Clearly I'm connecting to the correct account because the balance is showing as correct. But it's pulling transactions from the wrong account. If anyone has ideas on this it would be most helpful. I've lost pretty important functionality at this point. Many thanks, Matt.

QBO is downloading from incorrect bank account

Hi Matt,

I appreciate all the efforts you've exhausted in attempting to resolve this bank feed issue. Let's work together to get this sorted out.

Once you connect your bank or credit card account, QuickBooks Online automatically downloads the latest available transactions. Your financial institution controls how the data are sent into the program.

To isolate the issue, you can sign in to your bank's website. Then, review the bank transactions in your checking account. If the transactions are also wrongly posted, this means there's an issue with your bank. You may need to reach out to them to get this rectified.

However, if the transactions are showing correctly, I'd recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. This way, we'll be able to pull up your account and investigate this issue. Here's how to connect with us:

  1. Sign in to your QBO company.
  2. Go to the Help icon.
  3. Enter "Talk to a human" again in the search bar.
  4. Enter a brief description of the issue you've encountered.
  5. Choose I still need a human, then click Contact us.
  6. Select Get a callback or Send a message to start a conversation.

In the meantime, you may manually import the correct bank transactions. Then, exclude the downloaded transactions.

I also recommend reading these articles to learn how to review your downloaded transactions and reconcile your bank accounts:

QBO is downloading from incorrect bank account

Thanks for the reply. All of the transactions are showing properly on my bank's website so I guess I'll have to contact you. Uploading manually from this bank is a pain since the CSV export contains all sorts of headers and footers and therefore requires quite a bit of editing.

Did you get this fixed? I now have the same exact issue.  I took my bank off and put it back on and now i lost all my previously posted things for the whole year. I mow grass not office work and am completely lost.

I see how much this is affecting you, S13browe.

Have you tried to follow what my colleague @KlentB suggests?

If not yet, I recommend reviewing the bank transactions in your checking account. If the bank posts transactions incorrectly, there is a problem with your bank. You may need to contact them to resolve this issue.

If your transactions appear to be in order, this needs to be checked and investigated by our Live Support Team.

To reach them:

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right-hand corner of QBO.
  2. Proceed to the Assistant tab.
  3. Type in contact support in the chat box and press Enter.
  4. Select Contact a human, then click Live Chat or Call me back.
  5. Type in a short description of your concern and click Continue.
  6. Choose between Callback or Chat.

For now, you can manually import the correct bank transactions. Then, exclude the downloaded transactions as a temporary measure.

For more questions about bank transactions, leave a reply. We're always available to assist you.

I plan to contact the qb soon.  Have been busy at work.  Was hoping the OP had a way to fox it to save me time. Because we have the exact same issue. Will try to do that soon.
