Reconciliation issues with QB - not a new user

I am trying to reconcile my books but Quickbooks is trying to get me to connect up my accounts to "match the books to the bank records" which they already are and there is no option to skip or close the screen.  I have been using QB for nearly 10 years and never had as many problems as I have had recently in the past.  Stupid crap like this is frustrating and I used to get phone support with the amount I pay monthly but apparently don't anymore.  HELP.  This issue was not here a week ago.

Reconciliation issues with QB - not a new user

Hi there, Chalet.

The Match the books to the bank records window appears after clicking the Reconcile tab from the Gear icon or Accounting menu. You can always skip the page by clicking on the Get started button to proceed with your reconciliation.

I'm adding these screenshots as your visual reference.

When you're ready to reconcile your account, check out this article as your reference: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Just in case you help with viewing or printing your reconciliations, you can also review the resources from this link: How do I view, print, or export a reconciliation report?.

If you have any other questions about reconciliation, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm more than happy to help. Keep safe!

My reconcile button goes to an ad page to "Match the books to the bank records" and I have no other options to continue my reconcile. I cant get past it. The page does not have any TAB Options as your image displays.

I understand that encountering issues reconciling your account can be upsetting, CEB63. I'm here to help you get past this.

There may be discrepancies in your previous reconciliation. I'll share the following factors that may cause this issue:

  • Someone entered an incorrect opening balance when they created the account in QuickBooks.
  • Someone added transactions that are older than the opening balance, but didn't edit the original opening balance entry to reflect the change.
  • Someone edited, deleted, moved, or unreconciled an already reconciled transaction. This changes the ending balance of your last reconciliation, which impacts the beginning balance of the next one.
  • Someone manually reconciled a transaction, so it didn't show up on the next reconciliation.

To resolve the issue, you can begin by reviewing the original opening balance. Any incorrect amount entered as the opening balance will impact on all subsequent reconciliations. You can refer to this article for the detailed steps: Fix issues for accounts you've reconciled in the past in QuickBooks Online.

Once fixed, reconcile the account again to ensure your books are updated.

Let me know if you have further questions regarding reconciling accounts in QBO. I'll be here to assist.

Quickbooks - Turn that nonsense off!  There is zero reason I should have to click "Get Started" to avoid using a "feature" I will NEVER use. No one needs any more bloat in this already extremely overpriced, poorly designed application.
