Set rule to associate bank charge with specific Customer/Project?

We have many charges which we assign directly to a specific Customer/Project, I would like to set a rule to do this automatically. I see that we can associate the Customer and the Category as well as Class, but I don't see an option for Customer/Project.

Set rule to associate bank charge with specific Customer/Project?

Hi there, AbroadWorks.

Thank you for posting in the Community. The option to set up a rule to associate bank charges can be entered into a customer/project.

Let me guide you with these steps:

  1. From the Banking tab, select Rules.
  2. Click New rule.
  3. Fill out the Apply this to transactions that are section.
  4. Select the Transaction type in the Then assign section.
  5. Select a category in the Category field.
  6. Choose the customer/project in the Payee field.
  7. You can add Tags and toggle the Automatically confirm transactions this rule applies to button.
  8. Click Save

Set rule to associate bank charge with specific Customer/Project?

Thank you for your response, I may have been misunderstood. I know how to set the "Customer/Vendor" field, I would like to set the "Customer/Project" field. Please see the attachment for details.

As you can see above there is a payee already defined, I would like to automate the "Customer/Project" field. This is a settings field on higher paid plans. I see the options to set "Payee (Vendor/Customer)", "Category", and "Class" but none for "Customer/Project" as seen here:

Set rule to associate bank charge with specific Customer/Project?

Thanks for the clarification, AbroadWorks.

You can create rules that automatically categorize transactions for you. For the rule to apply to a specific customer/project, you can select it in the Payee field of the rule. If you want to add the same field when creating bank rules, I'll surely take note of this suggestion. You'll also want to send feedback on your end.

Let me show you how:

  1. Click the Gear icon and click Feedback.
  2. Enter a brief description of your feedback.
  3. Click Next.

Further, you can visit this link where you can vote on the product suggestion and more updates about it:https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/.
