Join nowI do not want to link to my bank account and I do not have access to the online bank account. I want to manually enter the checks and deposits and manually reconcile the account. How can I do this? It is insisting that I connect to a bank account.
Good day, aduncan2005.
Welcome aboard in the Online Community. Helping out with effectively managing your transactions is my priority.
In QuickBooks Online, you’ll still be able to keep track of your checks and deposits without using the Online Banking feature. Just make sure to enter them regularly for your records to be in order.
You can reconcile an account in QBO to match the transactions on your monthly bank statement with the transactions entered into your account. I recommend performing the process when you receive each period's statement.
I'm including a link with additional helpful information on reconciling: How to reconcile accounts. To manage your records effeciently, I'm including a link to our video tutorials in QuickBooks Online.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help. Please know that I'm just a comment away if you have concerns working in QBO. Have a good one.
Noneof the 3 online QBO products require bank accounts to be connected . The software can seem to be overbearingly insistent on this but thatis all hype and misdirected marketing. Nobody,in my view should connect bank accounts until they fully understand the consequences and can prove they can correctly enter transactions and reconcile accounts.
I liken it to store cashiers that have absolutely no clue how much change to give you unless it is displayed on their screen and if they enter that you gave them $200 instead of a $20 chances are better tban not you will get a bonus.
Of all the Intuit products only Mint the personal product prevents setting up your account without connected accounts

Use the gear menu, chart of accounts, click new, select banking, and the detail type, checking etc
name the account upper right and click save

When you set up a new bank type account in COA you are not asked at all to connect.
When you try and set up a new bank account in the Banking section, of course you are asked, because that is what the Banking section is for
