I have a corporate credit card with PNC bank. There are 2 account numbers, one master(corp), and one named account for expenses. Does PNC download data for both accounts or just corporate? How should the chart of accounts look? currently I have a Parent account (no bank connection) used for reconciliation only, 2 accounts that roll up to the Parent account; 1 account for the corp, and another for the named account.
Is this correct
I'm here to help you set up your bank account, Michael.
I'll share some information on how setting up a parent account with a sub-account works with QuickBooks.
Once you have already created your parent account, you may consider making a sub-account when you have multiple accounts associated with your bank account. After creating a parent account and a sub-account, this is how your chart of accounts will look like:
Connecting your accounts to Online Banking will depend on how your bank will send the transactions to QuickBooks. Connect the parent account if transactions download to a single account. Otherwise, connect sub-accounts only.
Also, remember that you cannot connect both accounts, as this will result in an error.
I'll drop this article here if you decide to connect your online bank in QuickBooks as your guide: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

PNC help line suggested I connect ONLY the master account, and that the 'card' account would zero out each month. They said if I connected both accounts to Quickbooks, I would duplicate the transactions. I don't know who to believe at this point.
According to PNC support, I should only connect the Master account. They said the "card" account transactions would be included in the download of the "master" account, and that the child card accounts would zero out each month. Not sure that is what I am seeing, but at one point I connected the feed for the child "card" account and it appears that I know have duplicate transactions, so perhaps PNC support is correct. Now I have a mess to clean up. Not sure if I should just remove/delete/inactivate the child "card" account and corresponding transactions before proceeding with the cleanup.
Hello, @michaelyoung.
I'll assure you I can help you with your concern.
Firstly, you'll need to know how your transactions are downloaded in the Online Banking section. If the transactions are downloaded to one account or connected only to the parent account. If it is an individual account, it relates to the subaccounts.
Let's proceed on excluding the duplicate transactions.
Here's how:
After excluding the transaction, you can proceed on disconnect the child/subaccount. Once done, we can connect the parent/master account.
For future reference, here's an article to review your downloaded bank and credit card transactions: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
