When I view the bank register, I would like the most recently dated entries to be at the top and not the bottom. Is this possible?

No, it's not possible to invert the sort order.
Thanks for stopping by the QuickBooks Community, @Maverick2.
In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), you can choose among the options from the Sort by drop-down to sort the order of your bank entries. Also, when manually adding transactions, be sure you entered the correct info, especially the dates. Let me walk you through the steps:
For more details on sorting your lists in QBDT, check out this article: Re-sort lists in QuickBooks Desktop.
I'm always here if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Thanks for your reply, but that does not address the question I asked.
The register window has a line by line list of the transactions.
By default, the most recent transactions are at the bottom of the list within the register window.
I want the most recent transaction to be at the top of the list within the register window.
Can I sort the list of transactions so the most recent are at the top of the register window?
No, it's not possible to invert the sort order.
Wrong! When you log in incognito, the new entry and the latest entries are on the top. Still can't figure out why I can't when logged in my Chrome. QB Online is a dumpster fire! I wish I had never switched from Desktop!!!
Hello there, sk-herefords.
I can see that things have been challenging for you with the format order of the transactions on the Bank register. Let me provide details on how it works in QuickBooks Online and ensure you can view them in the format that you want.
Please keep in mind that the entries on the mentioned page are displayed in ascending order (oldest to latest) by default. However, QuickBooks kept the last order you selected when you last signed into the program. This could be the reason dated entries in the order format aren't displayed in chronological order.
I recommend customizing the Bank register page to ascending format. This is done to ensure that every time you access it, the transactions are organized from the most recent and latest to the oldest. I've added a screenshot below for visual reference.
If the issue persists, having too much cache accumulated in a browser may cause this unexpected behavior using Chrome. This is the reason that the order format works using incognito. With this, you have to clear the cache of your regular browser. This deletes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate.
In case you need steps on how you can remove columns or edit entries within the Bank register, you can read this article: Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers in QuickBooks Online.

I was having the same issue and I think I found the solution. In the register, above the Balance column, click the gear icon (next to Print and Export, not the one at the top of the page next to your user icon); you'll see checkboxes for two categories: Columns and Other. Under Other, if Paper Ledger Mode is checked, uncheck it. Exit the register and go back in and see if it fixed the problem. It worked for me!
You are completely AWESOME! I have 20-30 companies under my QBOA account, and some of my clients had it one way, some the other and this drove me nuts for the longest time! This is so great to know! REALLY - THANKS FOR SHARING!
Thank you!!!! Just found this... funny how QB support didn't know about this setting.
Thank you just found this.... very very helpful. Perhaps you can give QB support more tips for their users.
@thandelquick So often the first thing they say is comprised of bot like responses that simply look for keywords instead of someone actually reading it. Then they tell you to rebuild and verify. In nearly 10 years of bugs and issues, rebuild and verify has solved the problem exactly zero times.
I didn't believe something so easy would work BUT - WOW it sure did! Thanks so much for sharing with everyone. I have a feeling this happens a lot, so I'm adding it to a file I set up on my desktop "QB solutions" (there are many) and this will definitely be a "saver!!" Thanks again!
Thank you!
Thank you so much! This needs to be the "solved" at the top under the question.
This is not the solution, please continue to read below.
@ssalzano The post marked 'solution' is the correct answer for Desktop, as this thread is categorized for.
Another user started asking about QBO, which is an entirely different product.
