Side-by-Side mode for downloading Chase into QB Desktop

Hello:
Chase Bank (& others) has added an extra level of protection.  I just went through the steps to reconfigure and allow QB permission to access the New Chase transaction.
When I first attempted to download my transactions (by clicking the "Send & Receive" Button), I received a notice stating that my current mode (Classic)  no longer works & I must switch to "Side-by-Side" mode.  The problem is, there is NO Side-by-Side mode - the other two modes available are "Advance" & "Express".  Even the (Awesome) Lady at QB SUPPORT was confused.  She didn't know of a "Side-by-Side" mode.  I'm assuming I'm not the only person using Desktop with this problem & was hoping others figured out what to do.
NOTE: I tried both the "Advance" & "Express" Mode and, while I was able to download & match my transactions, the balance QB shows I have in Chase is NOT the same balance of my matched transactions.  QB shows me Chase's current balance - which INCLUDES Today's  "pending" transactions (which QB has not download - since they haven't been posted).  It was never this way before.  Formerly, QB would show me Chase's balance of the posts transactions only - the ones I downloaded - which made it possible for me to do a daily "reconciliation" to ensure my account matches with the bank. Now I can't.

Side-by-Side mode for downloading Chase into QB Desktop

Thank you for posting in the Community space, Pdist.

We've updated the bank feeds to provide a more secure and convenient banking experience. Due to these updates, you'll need to reconnect your account to continue using the online banking service. Since Chase has discontinued the classic mode, you must use the new Express web connect option.

The side-by-side mode isn't an option that's why you only see Advance and Express mode. The Express web connect is a one-way connection from your Chase bank; you only need to connect once, and QuickBooks will download the transaction as soon as it becomes available.

The QuickBooks system is dependent on the information shared by the financial institution. We're currently unable to control the balance displayed from your Chase account. I recommend contacting your financial institution since changes to their system may be required.

In the meantime, you can either reconcile your account once the pending transaction has been posted or exclude the amount of the pending transaction when reconciling your account on a daily basis. Refer to this article for a complete guide in doing reconciliation: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

In addition, I've added this resource if you run into problems while reconciling your account: Fix issues when you're reconciling in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you need anything else, let me know. I'll be around to help you.

Side-by-Side mode for downloading Chase into QB Desktop

Would be helpful if either original poster or the Quickbooks response team provide details where to change this setting mentioned here:

The problem is, there is NO Side-by-Side mode - the other two modes available are "Advance" & "Express".

Can someone please specify where to change this setting?

Also the Quickbooks response did not address the issue that the error message is confusing, will this be fixed?

thank you

Side-by-Side mode for downloading Chase into QB Desktop

Hello there, dudeman93.

I'm here to help you download bank transactions to QuickBooks.

I understand how convenient to have the side-by-side mode in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). However, that option is unavailable.

For now, you can choose Express and Advanced mode to connect your bank transactions to QuickBooks. I'd encourage directly sending feedback to our Product Development. We always track the requests that we receive from our customers and consider them when prioritizing feature development.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose Send Feedback Online.
  3. Select Product Suggestion.
  4. Click the Type of Feedback drop-down menu, then choose Product Suggestion.
  5. Select the Product Area, then enter your thoughts and suggestions.
  6. Once done, click Send Feedback.

If you need a reference for completing your other tasks or answers to frequently asked questions, you can browse a topic from Help Article page.

I'm always here if you need any clarification about the features related to downloading bank transactions. Let me know by leaving a comment below.

To Change the Bank Mode:

  • Click "Banking" (on the top menu Bar)
  • Click "Bank Feeds"
  • Click "Change Bank Feed Mode"

A dialogue box should open.  the Options are at the bottom

NOTE - This is for the Desktop Version.  I have NO Idea how to change it in the Online Version

Thank You, Giovann_G, for responding...

The only thing useful was to use the "Express Mode"

I LOVE how you're pushing the blame to the Bank (& the bank, of course, will blame QB)

ALL I know, before I was forced to make this change (for an understandable reason), QB's stated Amount in Bank matched perfectly with the Bank's cleared (posted) transactions.

In the meantime, now I HAVE to log into my bank every day (with their stupid two-factor authorization) to get the actual balance  :(  Worse, I'm getting the impression QB really doesn't care (at least not for the Desktop users - who they are frantically trying to switch to online)  :(
Once again, Thank You!

DebSheenD - It shows you're an employee of QB (I'm assuming that's what the "EMPL" stands for)?

- Any reason as to WHY QB told me to use the Side-by-Side mode when there isn't such a thing?

- Just want to confirm, I should use "Express" and not "Advance"

- Any idea when (IF?) QB plans on fixing that bank balance problem?

- Do they REALLY listen to the "Request Feedback Online" - or is that just QB's way of blowing us off?

(and, YES, I did submit a Feedback regarding this issue - I know I just wasted my time, but ...)

- WHY do they have "two-factor authorization" just to log into this community (& that's AFTER you have to do one of those stupid CAPTCHA puzzles)?  Please don't tell me it's for security reasons - seriously, is QB afraid some hacker may post as me?  This is the main reason I AVOID coming here- TOO much of a hassle
- I am a LONG time user - I used to be a #1 fan - Every year QB has giving me reasons to lose some of my respect for them. It's sad

Thanks for letting me rant.  No need to respond (unless you have an actual answer)

IGNORE THIS -
I accidentally made a duplicate posting and QB WON'T allow me to delete it.
I can edit it, but not delete

Side-by-Side mode for downloading Chase into QB Desktop

Why can we no longer use the classic mode to download transactions from Chase Bank?????  The other 2 ways (advance mode and express mode) are too slow and cumbersome and and most of the past memorized transactions do not show up a 2nd time.  Is there a way for these transactions to be memorized again? 75% of the downloaded transactions now have to be manually entered. This doesn't make any sense at all and I don't see why Chase could have mandated this change since the same data can be downloaded the other 2 methods.  Who can we talk to about this to get it resolved.
