How do I map my columns to import .csv?

Thank you for posting, user14808.

I can help you with mapping your columns to import a CSV file.

To import a .csv file you must use either a 3-column or 4-column format. A 3-column format must have a  Date, a Description and the Amount of the transaction. A 4-column has a Date column, a Description column, and both a Credit and a Debit column.

On the Map CSV columns window, you'll have to match the QuickBooks Online fields (Date, Description and Amount) to your statement fields (the columns in your CSV file).

You can check this how to import bank transactions using Excel CSV file article for more information.

That should do it! If you need anything else about mapping your columns, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good day.

I’m here to help you map the columns so data imports successfully to QuickBooks, @Lavin.

When mapping information, your field represents the headers on your spreadsheet. From each drop-down menu, you’ll want to select the one that matches a field in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks fields will vary based on each type of transaction. Our sample file shows you how to format your spreadsheet so it imports correctly. Here’s how:

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Import Data.
  3. Select a transaction type.
  4. Click Download a sample file link.

How do I map my columns to import .csv?

I created csv files by directly exporting them from mint intuit. I do not currently have excell to create them from. Will I still be able to map and upload these csv files into quickbooks online if not done from excell? I am stuck at maping these without excell. Any help with would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for joining this thread, Skyhouseheidi.

Let me help ensure you're able to import your data to QuickBooks Online (QBO). You need a CSV file (Comma Separated Values), Google Sheets, or an XLS/XLSX file if you import vendors, customers, inventory, and chart of accounts.

Since you have a CSV file, you need the correct Excel format so you can map fields when you import entries. You can download and open these Excel files to see how they look.

For detailed steps on importing each list, you can open these articles.

I'm adding this link for more details about the format: Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online. It provides answers to common questions about the process.

If you're importing bank transactions, you need to format the CSV file in Excel. That way, you'll be able to bring transactions into QuickBooks.

Keep me posted if you have additional questions about importing CSV files. Just leave a comment below, and I'll get back to you.

@Skyhouseheidi

Another option, convert your .csv data to .qbo and import it into your QBO.
