I'll share how you can remove the Tags option, Keith1961.
The Tags feature must have been enabled in the QuickBooks Labs. To turn it off, you can follow these steps:

Please let me know if you have more questions about the feature or other concerns with QuickBooks Online. Have a good day!
This did not work. I called support and they were unable to remove them as well. This is very annoying and time consuming. Please help.
Hi, hiltim.
When a browser stored a lot of caches, it could cause problems like latency issues. As an initial step, you can press the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the page.
If the tag lines are still there, we can do some of the basic troubleshooting steps. You can use these shortcut keys depending on the browser you're using:
Access your transactions from there and check if the lines were removed. If yes, let's clear the browser's cache. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate.
I know you've already called in. However, if the problem persists, I'd still suggest getting in touch with our QuickBooks Online Support again to have this re-investigated. Unlike in this public forum, they have the tools required to perform any escalations in the system whenever necessary on your behalf.
Here's how to contact us:
1. Click the Help (?) icon.
2. Choose Contact Us.
3. Enter a brief description of your situation in the What can we help you with? area, then click Let's talk.
4. You'll be presented with a few options for connecting with Intuit. Select Get a call.

If I can be of any more assistance, please feel free to comment again. I will be here to help. Take care, and enjoy the rest of your day.
Did you ever get the Tags to go away? It just started last week on my screen and I'm tired of tabbing over it to put in my invoices. I also went to Quickbooks labs- tags were already turned off. I switched on and then off, but they are still there.
Thank you for getting back to us and letting us know your experience, @Lacee.
After turning off the Tags feature from QuickBooks Labs, the Tags section from the invoices page will be automatically removed. If not, then I suggest following the steps provided by RoseMarjorieA above to clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.
There are times that the browser you're using has information stored that's stopping or causing errors like this. Once you're done clearing your browser's cache, restart your browser for the changes to take effect.
Here's more information about what are tags and why should I use them in QuickBooks Online.
Let me know if there's anything that I can help with those tags in your account and or anything else. Take care and have a great rest of the day!
same ^^^^^
clearing the cache totally worked - thank you!!!!! ^^
.....until it came back - on par with 2020...so I am rolling with it
I've tried two different browsers and cleared the cache on each after toggling the Tag feature on then back off. Still no difference. This is very frustrating as I have no interest in using this new feature.
Hi @myuschak,
I appreciate the details you've included in your post. I'm here to provide an answer to your concern.
We've had reports from other QuickBooks Online (QBO) users with the exact situation you stated above. Our product engineers are currently working on adding the Tags feature to the Accounts and settings page. This way, you can turn off the Tags feature if you don't wish to use it.
The estimated time when it gets deployed is unavailable at this time. You do have the option to contact QuickBooks Online support for additional details on this matter.
Don't hesitate to post another comment below if you have other questions about QBO. I'll be sure to get back to you.
Can we expediate this "feature" where we can turn off a feature we never asked for?
Tags just magically showed up for me, out of nowhere like some kind of cool new QBO feature, except it's not cool. I've never wanted it, never turned it on in labs, and now it's there and there is no setting to turn it off.
It's annoying, completely irrelevant to our business needs, results in a complete re-training of our workflow--now I have to hit tab another time, which then also makes it a time-waster. More time is now spent entering invoices and also going back and correcting the errors during this "retraining" that I need to do, for something I don't want and didn't ask for.
I came to the support pages to find a solution to turn it off, and all I've found is the QB team providing instructions on how to turn off something that isn't turned on and a *shrugs shoulders* "we might get around to fixing it sometime maybe"--and not just this one, there are multiple support questions for this "feature".
I have been a relatively happy QBO customers for years and have worked through some quirks along the way, but I really don't have nice things to say about this "feature" because there is nothing I hate more than something that makes a task take even longer, especially when it provides no benefit to me.
I completely agree! It affects work flow, I don't want and will never use it. I've refreshed, etc and it will not go away.
Quickbooks, please remove it and the Permit No cell.
These instructions don't work for me. There is no Tags feature in my QB Labs. Now what?
Hi @lesleyw,
Welcome to the Community. Allow me to chime in and provide some clarification about the Tags feature in QuickBooks.
Tags are no longer available in QuickBooks Labs. You can now find the feature in the Banking section of your account (see screenshot below).
However, there's no option yet to turn it off in QuickBooks. This feature will show up every time you enter a transaction.
Please know that I appreciate your input on this feature. We'll continue to improve the features in QuickBooks, and this preference might be available in the future.
As we assess this, I suggest you visit our QuickBooks Blog to stay updated with all the changes.
Also, I've attached an article you can use to learn about the benefits of using tags in QuickBooks: Tag transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Drop me a comment below if you have any other questions related to the features. I'll be more than happy to help. Wishing you a good one.
How lousy of Intuit to not remove the field if no Tags are setup. Rather poor implementation of a "feature" that many people find zero value in.
Yet another "feature" that QB implements that is not helpful. We won't use the Tags, the Permit No, or the pay-by-credit 'Schedule a Payment' but we have to tab through them each and every time we post bills. Why?
Hi there, croyston311.
It's nice to see you back here in QuickBooks Community. I'll share information about the different features in QuickBooks Online and how it works.
Tags feature in QuickBooks Online are customizable designs that let you trace your money however you want. When you set tags into groups, you get deeper insights into how your business is doing. You’ll need groups to get reports for your tags. Then, the pay-by-credit 'Schedule a Payment' is used to show you an expected arrival date for each payment.
For additional information about Tags and Schedule a Payment features, you can click the articles below:
I can see how additional options and functionality with the said features would be not so helpful for both you and your organization. QuickBooks Online is constantly changing and evolving based largely on the suggestions and requests of users. I encourage you to submit feedback to our Product Development Team for review when determining features to be added in updates. This can be done directly through your account by clicking the Gear icon in the top right corner, then select Feedback. I'm going to submit feedback from my side as well.
I also suggest visiting our QuickBooks Blog to know about the latest news and updates from QuickBooks Online.
I'm also adding this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBO: Help guide for QuickBooks Online. It contains topics about advanced accounting, banking, and payments to name a few.

C'mon Intuit! You guys are better than this! Please go back to being customer centric - You are asking us to jump through hoops when it is you that should be doing the jumping. Stop deflecting the issue. Turn off the tabs until you can get it right and optional!
You are mandating customers change their workflows and increase errors when it is totally unnecessary! And please don't redirect me to a fix that doesn't work/spend time writing an unnecessary report to your product development team/read through your blogs when they don't address the issue.
You made a mistake with tags - that's OK. I make mistakes in my business. But I listen to my customers and fix the mistake. It should not be a major job to back out the code you added for tags and bring it back when it's fixed.
