Transaction List by Account not listed?

Hello, @mophidaho.

Let me help you in creating a report for each checking account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can pull up the Transaction List by Account report in QuickBooks Online. If you're using a Modern view, you can filter it by account. It is not in the list.

Go to the Reports menu.
Search and select Transaction List by Account. It is not in the list.
Click the Filter. Select the account you want to filter.
Finally, click Save as.

[Ned Barker ] How do I see if I am in classic or modern?

I am in Business View

However, if you're using the Classic view, I recommend customizing the Transaction Detail by Account report. I'll guide you through the steps:

Go to the Reports menu.
Search and select Transaction List by Account. Not there. I did both and it is not in either one.
Click the Customize button. From the Account drop-down, select the checking accounts.
Tap Run report.

Another option is to pull up a quick report. From the Gear icon, click the Chart of accounts and find the checking account. Click the drop-down next to the View register, then select Run report.
That works. It is in the Modern View with an option to Switch to classic view.

Furthermore, I've also included additional articles that can be useful in managing your reports and how to reconcile your accounts.

Transaction List by Account not listed?

Thank you for your constant participation in this thread, mophi. I'll chime into this conversation to provide assistance and ensure you can create a report for each of your bank accounts focusing on income and expense transactions.

You can pull up the Transaction Detail by Account and filter it by Income and Expenses account and by your Bank's name. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Reports, and on the Find report by name, key in Transaction Detail by Account.
    image.png
  2. Choose Filter.
    image.png
  3. For the Account filter, you can follow this sequence:
    • Filter by choose Account.
    • Options dropdown menu, hit equals.
    • Value menu, select a bank.
  4. For the Account type, refer to the sequence below:
    • Filter by choose Account type.
    • Options dropdown menu, hit not equals.
    • Value menu, select Income and Expense.

Then, you can export it to organize its data accordingly. Concerning the inability to access the exported financial reporting information using Excel, I suggest contacting an IT specialist. They can provide personalized advice with tech-related queries.

I'm here to support you throughout this process, mophi. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else I can do to assist you with managing your reports, drop your comment below. I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Transaction List by Account not listed?

I can help you run an accurate report and determine whether you're a classic or modern view in QuickBooks Online (QBO), mophidaho.

To begin with, the Transaction List by Account report is not directly listed in QBO. However, you can access similar information through the Transaction Detail by Account report.

By default, you'll see the modern view when running a report in QuickBooks Online. If you have the option to Switch to classic view, it means you are currently in the modern view. QuickBooks is gradually phasing out the classic view to improve performance and lay the groundwork for future report enhancements.

Here's a screenshot of the modern view for your reference:

Additionally, you can check this article to learn how to get the most out of your financial reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you need more information about running a report and its different views in QuickBooks Online. I'm always right here to help you. Keep safe.

Transaction List by Account not listed?

I have received several responses. Here is my continuing issue in Black Bold

Hello, @mophidaho. Fri 5/31/2024 5:57 PM

Let me help you in creating a report for each checking account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can pull up the Transaction List by Account report in QuickBooks Online. If you're using a Modern view, you can filter it by account.

Go to the Reports menu.
Search and select Transaction List by Account. Not Listed!
Click the Filter. Select the account you want to filter.
Finally, click Save as.

However, if you're using the Classic view, I recommend customizing the Transaction Detail by Account report. I'll guide you through the steps:

Go to the Reports menu.
Search and select Transaction List by Account. Not Listed!
Click the Customize button. From the Account drop-down, select the checking accounts.
Tap Run report.

Another option is to pull up a quick report. From the Gear icon, click the Chart of Accounts and find the checking account. Click the drop-down next to the View register, then select Run report. This works for Deposits, but we have many entries that are debits but are not listed. Grants Bills, Rent.

Furthermore, I've also included additional articles that can be useful in managing your reports and how to reconcile your accounts.

I can help you run an accurate report and determine whether you're a classic or modern view when generating a report in QuickBooks Online, mophidaho.

To begin with, if the Transaction List by Account is not listed, you can pull up the Transaction Detail by Account report instead. This only works for Deposits. See above.

By default, when running a report it'll be in the modern view. If you have the option to Switch to classic view, it means you are currently in the modern view. QuickBooks is gradually phasing out the classic view to improve performance and lay the groundwork for future report enhancements.

Thanks for getting back to the Community, mophidaho.

Let me dive into your conversation to help you manage your report according to your preferred custom reports in QuickBooks Online.

The ability to put the deposits and expenses in two columns, different ones with balances, and then save them as recurring management reports for each account in QuickBooks Online is not yet available. However, I can show you a workaround that presents the deposits and expenses transaction type that can be seen in the management report tab.

Here's how:

At the left navigation panel select Reports. Search and select Transaction Detail by Account Click the Filter. Under the: Filter by, select Account type Options choose equals Value pick Bank

4. Then +Add Filter. Under the Filter by, select Transaction type Options, choose equals Then for the Value, pick Expense This works for Deposits, but we have many entries that are debits but are not listed. Grants Bills, Rent.

5. Also, make sure to select the Report period according to your date preferences
6. Finally, click Save as.

Furthermore, for the next step:

Custom reports tab Select the report you customize then under the Action column, select Add to Management reports. Select Create a new management report. Enter a name, then go to manage report. There you can access the report you added to.

To add the deposit report, here's how:

At the left navigation panel select Reports. Search and select Transaction Detail by Account Click the Filter. Under the: Filter by, select Account type Options choose equals Value pick Bank
4. Then +Add Filter. Under the Filter by, select Transaction type Options, choose equals Then for the Value, pick Deposit
5. Also, make sure to select the Report period according to your date preferences
6. Finally, click Save as.

Then repeat the process, check the custom reports tab, select the report you just customized then under the Action column, select Add to Management reports then choose Add to an existing management report from there you can access the report you added to by clicking Preview.

Additionally, you can refer to this article to learn more about available reports and view a table listing the reports available for your version in QBO:

If you have any more questions or if you need further assistance, I'm just a reply away. Have a lovely day!

Transaction List by Account not listed?

I know why this report isn't listed, mophidaho. I'm here to offer solutions for viewing your transactions by account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

  1. Select the Report menu on the left pane.
  2. In the Find report by name field, search and select Transaction Detail by Account.
  3. Click the Customize button to filter the report.
  4. Once done, select Run Report.

Furthermore, I'll provide you with a comprehensive set of instructions to facilitate your report management within QBO. These instructions encompass personalizing and changing your statement accounting method.

If you encounter any additional concerns about handling reports in QBO, please feel free to inform me. I am available to assist you. Keep safe!

Transaction List by Account not listed?

Hello mophidaho,

Thank you for sharing this! Could you clarify what the report needs to include? In the meantime, I recommend running individual Profit and loss reports for each bank account, filtering the report to show the income and expenses for just one bank account, and making a similar report for the other bank accounts. You could then export the reports to Excel and merge them together if that is a better fit.

I look forward to your response as we try to figure this out together! See you soon.
