Update OLD Web Browser in Bank Feeds (QB 2022 Enterprise Desktop)

When I try to log-in to upload transactions in bank feeds for my Chase Credit Card, it tells me I'm using an outdated browser and must update it.  It seems as though QB is using the wrong browser internally within their program because when I download the new browser it doesn't fix the problem. Any idea how to fix this?

(I'm using Quickbooks 2022 Enterprise Desktop)

Update OLD Web Browser in Bank Feeds (QB 2022 Enterprise Desktop)

Hi, Jeanie. I'll share with you some troubleshooting steps to upload your bank feed transactions into QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

QBDT works best with Internet Explorer 11 (32-bit) browser. The browser you're using might not compatible with the QBDT installed in your system causing the error message you're getting. You can consider upgrading your browser if needed to fix the issue.

If your bank doesn't support IE, you have the option to bring the transactions to QuickBooks manually.

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities, then Import.
  3. Click on Web Connect Files.
  4. Choose the QBO file you saved, then click  Open.
  5. When prompted to Select Bank Account, select either Use an existing QuickBooks account or Create a new QuickBooks account.
  6. Hit Continue. A dialogue box will inform you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks.
  7. Click OK.

For additional reference about the process, you can open this article: Import Web Connect (.qbo) files.

Once the transactions are downloaded, you're now ready to the Bank Feeds Center to review and categorize them.

To get answers to some of the frequently asked questions about the IE browser, you can also open this article: Upgrade Internet Explorer to open QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have any other follow-up questions about the connection between your bank and QuickBooks, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Keep safe!

I think this is fixed in QB 2022 R3.  The release notes say that (old, ancient) Internet Explorer will no longer be used to log into banks:

This sort of message is not because of the user's browser, but instead the QuickBooks embedded browser, which has until recently been an ancient version of IE, insecure and not supported by MS for many years. The message is the bank finally refusing to tolerate the old IE version. Based on your own release notes, Intuit just fixed this for QB 02022. Didn't anyone tell you?

I have the same situation with Chase.  Also, using QBDT 2021 client's direct connect with efirst bank stopped working.  I can't import using web connect because the bank and or QB won't permit import because of the direct connect.  This happened before but I thought it was a password issue and had the client change their password.  I know the password is ok because I could sign-in online, but still need to enter every transaction because no web import.  Very furastrating.

Assuming you're seeing a browser issue like the OP, it doesn't look fixed yet for QB 2021:

As a workaround, you can probably download "QuickBooks Web Connect(QBO)" files from Chase. (I can for all of my Chase credit cards.)

Once downloaded, then import the QBO file into QuickBooks by picking File | Utilities | Import | Web Connect files.

Note you may need to disable online services for the account before importing the QBO file, in order to be able to pick the account as you import. Do this by editing it from the chart of accounts and disabling all online services on the Bank Feeds tab.

Not fixed in 2023 enterprise.

Not even the Intuit marketplace will allow a connection from the quickbooks browser.
