What app do you recommend to import data file(IIF) into QBO?

Let me help you import the data file from IIF format into QuickBooks Online, Aimee.

Currently, the supported file formats that you can use to import information to QuickBooks Online are CSV, XLS/XLSX, and Google Sheets. We're unable to recommend a specific application that you can use if you're referring to a third-party application, However, if these files are from QuickBooks Desktop, make sure to back up your company file first before you import the files. Once done, here's how you can import them:

  1. Sign in to your company file as an admin. If you’re in Multi-user mode, go to the File menu, then select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
  3. Click Import, then select Import IIF.
  4. Choose the IIF file you want to import, then select Open.
  5. Hit OK to confirm the import.

To give you more details on how you can import and export your lists and transactions to and from QuickBooks Desktop, I've provided this article for more details: Export, Import, And Edit IIF Files.

Additionally, learn how you can check out these articles to familiarize yourself with when working with QuickBooks Online. I've added this article for more information: Getting Started With QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you have any questions when importing IIF files. Remember, we're here to make sure we've addressed all your concerns. Have a great day!

The following steps allows an IIF file to be opened in Excel.

Save the IIF file locally
Open Microsoft Excel and in Excel, select FILE > OPEN
In the drop down for file type, change to ALL FILES (*.*)
Browse and select the IIF file
When the Text Import Wizard appears, select DELIMITED and NEXT
Select TAB as the DELIMITER
Select FINISH

Select FILE > SAVE AS and change the SAVE AS type to an Excel workbook

Use TP Importer to proceed

Hi aimee@bayourealt .  If you are looking for an app that imports IIF files into QuickBooks Online then can I suggest you take a look at Axis Online that you can find in the QuickBooks Online apps marketplace.   You do not have to reformat the IIF files as Axis reads them directly and converts the data format into a format that QuickBooks Online understands.
