Why is the bank register not updating when posting transactions?

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @mrengineer.

There are a few things to consider why your transactions aren't showing in your bank register.

But first, what transactions are you referring to?

If you're referring to sales transactions, like sales receipts and invoices, please know that they won't get posted to your bank register. Your sales receipt will be posted to your Undeposited Funds account by default. While your invoices will be posted to Accounts Receivable.

From there, you can transfer your Undeposited Funds amount to your bank through the Bank Deposit feature. This way, you'll be able to properly track your transactions based on the actual scenario that might have happened in your business.

Only those transactions, like bank deposits and expenses, that are related to your bank get posted in your bank register.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any other questions. Have a good day!

Why is the bank register not updating when posting transactions?

None of my "reviewed and accepted" transactions are showing up in my register? Not sure how to fix that. Please advise.

Why is the bank register not updating when posting transactions?

Hi there, bbsorensen.

Let's get this working for you.

We can try refreshing the connection by running a manual update on your account in QuickBooks Online. Let me show you how:

  1. Select Banking from the left menu.
  2. Select the Update button in the upper right.
  3. Select Update Now.

You can have this article as your reference: How to manually update bank accounts.

If you continue to experience the same issue, I suggest you reach out to our Care Support Team if you need more help in doing this.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help at the top right.
  3. Select Contact Us to connect with a live agent.
  4. Enter your concern.
  5. Click the Green Phone button to get the phone number.

Keep me posted on how it goes. I'm still here if you have additional questions about this.

Thanks for joining us in this thread, Tammy_lynn.

What specific transaction are you trying to add in your bank register?

To single out, let's perform some basic troubleshooting steps to determine if this is browser-related issue.

Here's how to open an incognito window in all supported browser:

  • For Internet Explorer or Firefox, press Ctrl Shift P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl Shift N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command Shift N.

If you're able to post a transaction on the bank register, then I suggest clearing your regular browser.

You can check out this article for the detailed steps: Clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files.

If the same thing happens, you can create a transaction directly to the register for the meantime. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Accounting.
  2. Locate the register and click on View register.
  3. Under the Date column, click on the Add drop down and choose a transaction type.
  4. Fill in the fields.
  5. Select Save.

For further isolation, I recommend reaching out to our Support Team. They have more tools to have this checked.

Here's how to get in contact with them:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
  2. Go to Help and click on Contact us.
  3. Enter your concern and select Let's talk.
  4. Choose either Get a callback or Start messaging.

Please let me know how it goes. I'm always around to help. Take care.
