Will Intuit (QB Online) fix American Express bank connection and add the Amex Business Checking account?

I have been wondering why quickbooks online still has not solved this issue in adding the Amex Business Checking.

They charge twice as much as my other budget app (YNAB) but cannot seem to add or pull the data from amex on this, while YNAB which is a lot cheaper did not have any problems pulling the data and syncing from day 1 of opening my account (amex business checking).

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, kbnlars.

Sometimes, when searching for your financial institution, you'll see multiple names. If you haven't tried any other options you might be seeing which match the bank's name, let's try that to see if you're able to link your account.

Here's how:

  1. In the left navigation bar, go to Banking, then Add account.
Search for your bank's name and choose it from the list.
  2. A new window will open to their website. Make sure you're able to access your account through the online portal by verifying that you can see its summary, history, and details without any errors displaying.
  3. If you can sign in to your account successfully and see no errors, sign out of their website and continue adding the account in QuickBooks.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to continue connecting your account.

If you're still unable to connect, I'd recommend checking your browser. It's possible this could have something to do with temporary internet files. Browsing applications store these types of records, but sometimes they can cause issues with certain webpages. You can open a private window and check to see if you're able to connect the account.

Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used web browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If it's still not connecting while browsing privately, it's safe to say this problem's being caused by your browser. It can be fixed by clearing cached data and Intuit-specific cookies.

In the event it continues occurring while using incognito, you'll initially want to try switching to another browsing application.

Here's a list of supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari 11 or newer

You can also check a browser's compatibility with your books by utilizing our browser health checkup tool. QuickBooks supports the current and two previous versions of browsers. If you find that you're using an older version, make sure to update it to its latest release. Steps for doing so can be found on the particular company's website.

In the event you've found no problems that could be causing this with your browser, I'd recommend using a different device and/or internet connection. If it continues happening on other devices and/or internet connections, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

In the meantime, you can use your Web Connect feature to manually upload transactions.

Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a lovely day!

Will Intuit (QB Online) fix American Express bank connection and add the Amex Business Checking account?

Thanks for replying.

That is not the problem.

i have 10 Amex Credit Cards showing up, and I'm currently syncing 3 (business) of them.

The issue is that American Express recently has a Business Checking account which has the same login (URL) as with all the Credit Cards (personal & business), but when you try to reconnect with the American Express (URL) connection, it will only pull the Credit Card Datas, excluding the Checking Accounts.

I have had remote desktop connection with as few intuit supports on this and they all just resort to the same generic connection troubleshooting without any resolution.

@kbnlars

Utilize MT Online as another option. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed.
