Buy nowA wire transfer (an expense) is recorded in Quickbooks as a transfer between accounts, so it does not show in the expense category -- it shows in the asset category. I am not able to edit when I want to modify it to make it show as an expense.
Hi there, @pat-ct.
Thank you for reaching out to the Community. It's my priority to help you sort this out.
Generally, when a user encounters unexpected behavior, we can perform basic browser troubleshooting to fix the issue.
There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, causing some unusual responses. We can start by accessing your account in a private browser. This mode doesn't save your searches, visited pages, log in details, and cookies.
You can use the shortcut keys that I've listed below.
Once you're in, let's try again to modify the account to double-check. If we're able to customize it, we'll have to go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to get rid of the accumulated site data. Clearing it will refresh the system, and you'll be able to work with clean trash. However, if the issue persists, try using other supported browsers. It could be that the one you're currently working on has a temporary issue with QuickBooks.
However, if it is still unable to change it, I recommend reaching out to our Customer support team, as they have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment and to determine why you're getting this issue.
Before doing so, please check out our support hours to ensure that we address your concerns on time. Here's how to connect with our Customer teams:
Due to the outbreak, we have limited staffing and have reduced our hours to 6:00 A.M. -6:00 P.M. PT Mon-Fri and some products will only have chat support during this situation. Rest assured, we will resume normal hours as soon as possible.

That should be it. Drop me a comment if you have additional questions about accounts. I'd love to provide more help. Wishing you all the best!
I pressed Undo and now that item is in For Review box. But the system says that it found a Match and won't let me change the Category. I'm working in a different browser than before.
I have the item in the For Review box but the system is saying it has found a Match and will not let me change the Category. I'm working in a different browser than before.
Hello there, @pat-ct.
Allow me to share information about modifying transactions.
Once you undo the transaction, it goes back to the For Review tab. Then, QuickBooks automatically catches similar transactions or will find a match.
To categorize a transaction to a specific account, you’ll want to select it without clicking the Match option. Doing this will allow you to change the category of that particular item. Here’s how:
Once done, it will move to the Categorized transaction directly. Then, you can go back to your main browser and make sure to clear the cache.
You can check this article to learn more about categorizing transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
If the issue persists, you can follow my colleague's instructions above to contact our Customer support team.
Get back to us if you have other concerns with QuickBooks. I’m always ready to help.
