Reconciling books and security

Is there a way to give a bookkeeper the ability to reconcile books without divulging secure information, like account and routing numbers?

All my bank statements contain routing and account numbers. I’ve read online that i should only give this info to a “trusted”

accountment, but i still have issues doing that.

Is there a way where i can have someone reconcile books i don’t completely trust not to commit wire fraud or attempt to steal

money?

Are there bank statements that don’t contain that kind of information?

Thanks

If you're using an Advanced subscription, you may be able to create a custom user profile for your accountant/bookkeeper and grant them access to reconcile accounts, while revoking access for using the View statements feature.

Here's how to create new roles with an Advanced plan:

  1. Use your Gear (⚙) icon, then go to Manage users.
  2. Access the Roles tab.
  3. Click Add role.
  4. Enter a Role name and Role description.
  5. Specify what your user role can access in QuickBooks.
  6. Select Save Role.

After creating a role, you can assign it to users.

In the event you're not currently subscribed to an Advanced plan and would like to upgrade, you can do so any time.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with the View statements feature which may come in handy moving forward: Get bank statements directly from your bank when you reconcile

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have an awesome Friday!

With our View statements feature, if your bank is on the feature's Supported Financial Institutions list, and you've connected your account to Online Banking, you'll be able to sign up to view account statements from the bank by clicking your Enroll option on the Reconcile screen.

After you've enrolled and downloaded bank statements, you can begin reconciling your account. Downloaded statements can be accessed by going to History by account on the Reconcile page. Once you've found a statement you'd like to open, select Attachments in your Statements column. When reconciling, you can compare the transactions on statements with what's in QuickBooks.

The statements you download come directly from your bank. If you have any additional questions about what will be visible on them, I'd recommend reaching out to your financial institution.

You'll also be able to find many detailed resources about using QuickBooks in our help article archives.

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a wonderful Friday!
