Turn off predictions for transactions

I appreciate you for seeking updates about this feature, @qasimmh.

I can see the importance of disabling this feature for your and other users. At this time, there are no updates from our developer team about turning off predictions for QuickBooks Self-Employed transactions. I'll be taking note of your feedback and pass them along to our engineering department for future enhancements.

You can also visit this site to know more about what's new and coming in QuickBooks: Product Updates.

If you have any other questions about predictions for your transactions, please notify me by adding a comment below. I'm more than happy to help. Have a good one!

This is still going on? How have no updates been provided on feature that effectively breaks bookkeeping by placing transactions in random categories? I'm not sure I've heard of such a laughable failure on a software development team in a long time.

I know how it feels if the option to turn off the feature isn't available, gadgetguycj.

Currently, we haven't received any updates yet on when the prediction feature will be removed. Rest assured, we already notified our Product Engineers so they can disable this feature for you and the other users.

In the meantime, you can manually edit the transactions and assign them to the correct categories. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Find the transaction you want to edit.
  3. Click the dropdown icon to expand the transaction.
  4. Edit the transaction name, add notes, or attach a receipt.
  5. To change the category, select the link in the Type or Category column. Then choose a new category.
  6. When you're done, Hit Save.

Feel free to review this resource for more information: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I've included this material to learn how to manage and create rules to spread up your reviews: Create rules to speed up reviews in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

You can add any details below if you have further questions about the prediction feature or if you have other concerns. The Community and I will always here to help you.

You've said this for 3 years, its obvious that everyone here understands the ability to edit transactions. If you have a way to show only the transactions that have been "predicted" I'd be interested. Otherwise posting these auto-responses is as insulting as constantly delaying a product breaking feature.

I am a programmer and can't understand how the development team would add this without the option to turn it off. It just doesn't work. After two years of complaints they haven't been able to fix it. Maybe it's time for new programmers.

To the person who answers the complaints and tries to pacify us, we're not buying it. Get somebody to do something to fix this crap.

What is the update on this horrible feature? I am wondering how many customers you might be lost in the past 3 years because of this bad feature.

Hi, userlmohammad.

I know how important it is to have control over your transactions. However, the option to turn this feature off isn't an option for now.

I'll do take note of this and pass along your experience here on my end and provide all the feedback you have to the appropriate channels so you're able to reach a point of resolution as quickly as possible.

I'd also suggest submitting feedback within your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account. This way, it goes to our product developers to help improve your experience while using the program. Here's how:

  1. Click the Assistant feature and typing submit feedback.
  2. Choose the Feature request option from the prompts.
  3. Hit Submit.

In the meantime, you can manually edit the transactions and assign them to the correct categories. See the steps below:

We’re working on releasing new features soon. For product updates, you can check out our blog post for recent changes.

You're always welcome to post any concerns you have in this space. I'll be here if you need assistance with QuickBooks. Have a good one.

I already left the platform, I suggest doing the same. I left feedback multiple times and they don't seem to care.

I've been complaining about this bug for 3 years. Hey Intuit, IT'S BUG, NOT A FEATURE!

I'm giving them 1 month to fix, if it's not done by then I'm taking my business elsewhere.

How do we turn this garbage off?  Don't need imaginary help with imaginary problems.

This is sickening.  This supposedly time-saving convenient feature is causing nothing but more work and problems for me, the user and the one who pays for the service.  What if I bought a cable or internet service for my TV and as I was watching a movie switched to another show because it thought I would rather watch something else, and this would happen every time I wanted to watch TV?  Convenient?  What if I went to a restaurant and ordered something and the server returned with something else because he/she decided I would like it better, and if I wanted my selected meal the server would say that was not an option because the meal was already prepared and I would need to go to the kitchen and cook it myself because there was no way the server could go back to the kitchen to make that change?  Convenient?  What if I needed to copy a 150-page document but the paper feeder would only copy the first page over and over, and if I wanted to copy the entire document I would need to feed each one individually and even then there would be something automated to screw things up that I could not turn off?  Convenient?  What if I went to a gas station to put premium gas in my tank and midway as I'm filling it the "service" automatically switches to diesel because the automated service decided that's what my car needed?  Convenient?  Get the picture, QBO?  Apparently the only solution is to cut my subscription to QBO and buy from a developer that knows something about the business.  @#%*&%#)+!

I suggest leaving a negative review and leaving the platform, Quickbooks is a joke.

I have been following this thread for over a year now hoping that the developers would come up with a solution. They have just completely ignored everyone's concerns and frustrations.
This is so obviously a bug and the fact that they are trying to cover it up as a feature just shows how incompetent this company and their programmers/developers really are.

It's an insult to our intelligence that they think we would believe this to be a feature. What sort of feature would create more work for a user?

What is even scarier is that we are trusting our finances and tax returns to a company that obviously has complete disdain for their customers and either doesn't care about this bug, or, more likely,  given their past incopetence, are not able to fix the bug.

Please can we have some in authority reply to us as to why they are not working 24 x 7 on this bug?

The fact that there has been no reply from Intuit speaks loads, but is no surprise.

There is nothing that says "Rules" after clicking on the gear shift.  I'm trying to remove the Payee that keeps automatically being designated based on the category.  I have multiple payees under the category of "Income Reporter," (a category that I created) and every time I change the payee to the correct payee, then the next time an entry that should be designated as Income Reporter brings in that same payee, which is incorrect for the NEXT transaction.

I agree 100%.  Why would you turn out a product that is mandatory to everyone if it is beta testing.  That makes zero sense!!!!  It is not beta if you don't give us a choice!  This is an expensive product.  You should not be forcing us to redo work over and over again!!!!

They lost me 2 years ago although I still get updates on this post and cannot believe they still haven’t changed it! I moved to Wave and it’s saved me a load of headache and time from this crap. Quickbooks customer service is atrocious and Intuit doesn’t give a crap about you as a QBSE customer.

They’re not going to change this feature. Time to switch folks!

Thanks for the advice on Wave.  I do need to change.  I just need to check with my accountant.  Anything has to be better than QuickBooks!
