Where can I find the Accounting tab in my QBO menu?

I've got you're back to help you add some accounts in QuickBooks Online(QBO), @Joyc56.

Normally, you can find the Accounting tab from the left menu of your software. Aside from that, going to the Chart of Accounts(COA) is the other way of adding an account in QBO.

If this is unavailable on your end, it could be that you have limited access. That being said, I suggest asking permission from your primary admin so you can do the task.

If you have access and the issue persists, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. Let's start accessing your account using a different or a private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

Once signed in, add the accounts in the Accounting tab. Once you have successfully performed the task, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Also, an alternative way is to use other compatible browsers.

May I also ask if you received an error message when adding an entry to the COA? I appreciate any extra information you can give, and it will help us isolate the issue and provide the best solution.

I've also attached a link to help you manage your accounts in QuickBooks. These accounts are relevant in categorizing your transactions from sales forms to reports to tax forms: Learn about COA.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any other questions about managing your accounting transactions in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Wishing you and your business continued success.

Where can I find the Accounting tab in my QBO menu?

I spent 3 hours trying to find the accountant tab in my dashboard because everything on mine was different than what I needed. In case anyone else comes looking for this, you can click on  "settings" in the top right corner of your page, and in the menu that opens, in the bottom right hand corner, it will say "switch to accounting view".

Where can I find the Accounting tab in my QBO menu?

Sadly I am in the Accountant View and have "My accountant" tab on the left but there is no "Accounting Tab" that will allow me to make the changes needed. This program is the worst

Thanks for joining the Community and getting involved with this thread, Dlong2.

To verify my understanding, what changes are you trying to make? If you're looking to access your Chart of Accounts and make changes to transactions in an account's register, you can do so by going to Transactions in the left navigation bar.

Here's how:

  1. In your left navigation bar, go to Transactions, then Chart of accounts.
  2. Find an account you want to work in and select its View register option.
  3. Locate the transaction you're looking for and make any necessary changes. You can edit transactions by clicking on their records.

In regard to your My Accountant page, you'll only find a couple tabs there, one titled Requests, and another titled Shared documents.

I've also included a couple detailed resources about using QuickBooks which may come in handy moving forward:

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a wonderful Thursday!

Where can I find the Accounting tab in my QBO menu?

Hello. I am not the accountant but I am a company admin and cannot locate the accounting tab, neither can the primary admin. Also, we do not have an accountant or a bookkeeper with a different view. We just want to be able to batch merge multiple client sub-accounts in to the main client account, and I am talking 100's of sub-accounts mistakenly created during a botched file transfer; to do this manually and one at a time would be an extremely time consuming task. I'm open to suggestions!

Thank you for your rapid response. I appears batch merging is not an option in this software. I can only make the accounts inactive in batch. I was also told this is also not an option for an accountant. Makes no sense but it is what it is.
