Hello!

If a project has been marked as Completed, how can I prevent subsequent changes to existing bills or prevent any new posting against the project?

Modify transaction related to completed project

I have information to share about preventing any modifications to the finished project, Elise.

At the moment, there’s no native way to prevent subsequent changes to existing bills or any new postings against the completed project in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can only lock or close your books to avoid updates to past transactions before filing your taxes.

I recognize how convenient the option is to make sure there are no accidental transformations that could affect your projects and financial reports. Our Product Development team is constantly looking for ways to enhance our offerings to meet your expectations. That being said, I recommend submitting your idea to them so they can carefully review your feedback and get it possibly added to future upgrades.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion(s) in the box.
  3. Select Next after to submit.

You can track your feedback through the QBO Feature Requests website.

These resources provide comprehensive insights to help you organize your projects effectively, accurately track your labor costs, and ensure profitability in the program:
