Accessing your company file on different devices lets you multi-task effectively, ljg2024. I'll share the steps to help you open the data on your office computer and laptop.
Beforehand, may I know if you encounter any error messages when restoring the online backup? It'll help us determine why you can't access the file.
For us to successfully open the online backup on a different device, I recommend using the Web restore option. The tool helps you successfully restore a copy from an online backup. Here's how:
- Open QuickBooks on your laptop, then go to the QuickBooks Online Backup Login website.
- In the next window, enter your credentials. Type in the email you signed up with your online backup account (This is different than your QuickBooks login) and the correct password.
- Now, hit the Web Restore button.
- Install Active Control (if instructed).
- Then, you'll see different actions prompting on your system screen. Make sure to complete all of them. The instructions differ depending on the configuration of your system.
- When prompted, create a folder on your desktop to save the backup and give it a name. It is your backup location when restoring the file on your laptop.
- Once done, click Restore.
Once done, you can start working on your books on your laptop. Make sure the file isn't open on your office computer to proceed without issues.
Alternatively, you can use the Multi-user mode to access and work on your file simultaneously. However, this is only possible for a user with two or more QuickBooks licenses. For more details about the feature, please browse these resources:
