Edit the column width in the estimate

Is there a way to edit the column width in the estimate when you are editing or creating it? I feel like when they changed the invoice and estimates this function was lost? its very to use now when you have products/services that are longer than the default width.

Edit the column width in the estimate

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, Slevy7. I appreciate your detailed information.

You can customize column widths on estimates from the Custom form styles screen. You'll need to either edit an existing template, or create a new one.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Custom form styles.
  2. Find an existing template you want to edit and click its Edit option, or use your New style ▼ drop-down list and choose Estimate.
  3. Access the Content tab.
  4. Click to your Table section.
  5. Hit EDIT LABELS AND WIDTHS.
  6. Make any necessary changes to column widths.
  7. Select Done.

If you created a new estimate template, you'll need to set it as the default from your Custom form styles screen:

Now while you're creating or editing estimates, you can choose which design option you'd prefer to use by clicking Manage, then expanding the Design section and choosing your preferred template.

I've also included a couple detailed resources about working with estimates which may come in handy moving forward:

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have an awesome Thursday!

Thanks. But I am not talking about the form. I am talking about the screen where you input or edit the data.

Edit the column width in the estimate

Thank you for the additional information, Slevy7.

The option to edit the width column of the estimate screen is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). What I can suggest is to forward this product suggestion to our developers so they can consider including it in future updates.

Here's how:

  1. In the Estimate form, select Feedback.
  2. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  3. Click Submit feedback.

Also, you can see more about the upcoming updates in QBO by navigating this resource: QuickBooks Blog.

Additionally, you can visit this article about utilizing the templates in QBO and what details you can add to your sales forms when using a mobile browser: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Should you have additional questions regarding the estimates, click the Reply button. We'll be willing to lend a hand. Stay safe!
