Scan Manager discontinuation

would have been nice to know this before i upgraded to 22. i used that feature daily. having to take pics of multiple receipts one after another with a phone rather than feeding them thru a scanner is ridiculous. also when i log into the mobile app and take a pic the quickbooks desktop doesn't see anything in the mobile doc center.

I appreciate you for giving feedback about this issue. To resolve the missing attachments, below are the troubleshooting steps you can perform. 

 

In QBDT, attached files are usually located in the Attach folder with the same location as your company file. Whenever you have trouble finding them, you can locate these attachments where it was originally saved and manually attach or scan them. 

 

If notice that the Attach folder is in a different place, you simply need to copy and paste it into the same location as your company file. For guidance in performing this task, I recommend reaching out with a IT expert.

 

After that, let's re-establish the link. This will ensure that the program is properly reading the attachment info. Here's how:

 

  1. In your QBDT company file, click the Company menu.
  2. Next, hover over to the Documents option and select Repair Attached Document Links.
  3. Then, click Open Company File Folder.
  4. Make sure that both the company file and the Attach folder appear in the window that opens, then close it.
  5. Select Repair Links. This should re-establish the connection.

 

Once finished, check the Doc Center again.

 This is becoming a sad joke.  Again, a great time-consuming fix really sounds efficient. Quickbooks still doesn't get the fact we are all busy people. Time is money QuickBooks and PUT SCAN MANAGER BACK so we can all get back to working efficiently.  This conversation is getting larger by the day one would have thought QuickBooks would finally get it and fire the group of idiots that came up with and implemented the discontinuing of scan manager.  Very obvious to me and a lot of other pissed-off customers that they never used the program ever.

I have found that if I scan my documents thru my scanner app and save them to a file - I named mine quickbooks scanned documents - I can then attach them to my invoices.  You just have to select the option "from computer". My system is set to look at the quickbooks scanned documents for the file I need.  I name the file by company and PO number to keep it organized, with the newest scanned documents on top.  Hope this helps you - it doesn't look like QB management listen to their users.

I scan hundreds of docs a week to invoices, bills, etc. I do not have the time nor the ambition to take a pic of each document with my phone. I would not get anything else done. Also, taking a pic of a document looks extremely unprofessional to be emailing to a customer.  Has this been addressed?  I need scan manager back.  Your company cannot expect us to use our phones, that is outrageous!!!  Please follow up and let us know when you will be puttinig scan manager back!!!!!!!

Using a cell phone to take pics of the documents is not only extremely time consuming (hundreds of docs per week) but it looks super unprofessional. I would not want to get pictures of paperwork from one of my contractors. How can your company not realize that pictures of docs look sketchy and cheap.

Shocking that you ripped out scan manager from QuickBooks. What's next on your demolition list? Why not get rid of the menu bar? After all, QuickBooks online does not have that either.

This is freakin ridiculous!  It’s taking me more time to do my paperwork! I have to scan from my desktop, save it to my documents, then open my document, rename the file and the move it into QB’s!!! I have been with QB’s since I started my business. Over 20+ years. Bring back the scan feature!  If not I will need to find another program/company.

The elimination of being able to scan your documents directly was a LARGE MISTAKE on the part of Intuit!

 

 

Funning you can scan documents in their Quicken App, but now, not in there QUICKBOOKS app.

 

Intuit, please instate scanning back into QuickBooks!

It's an extra expense and an extra step for busy business owners.

I definitely understand your frustrations about the discontinuation, @clutterbug.

 

We can see that the Scan Manager feature is a great feature for your business since you're scanning hundreds of documents daily. Please know that we're working in improving the product to meet your business needs while also keeping up with the growth in technology.

 

I suggest submitting feedback directly to our product engineers. They may look into this suggestion and consider adding back the option in future updates. Here's how:

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
  2. Go to the Help menu, select Send Feedback Online and choose Product Suggestion.
  3. Enter your feedback and click Submit.

 

For now, we can continue attaching documents using the mobile app. I know that it takes time and extra steps, but it's the best alternative we can offer right now.

That's what I did. I rolled QB 22 back to 21 and will hang on to it for as long as they let me...and hopefully the engineers will listen to their users. Perhaps the engineers need to do a 'day in the life of' all of us who are wearing 69 hats running our business and just do not have time to put sensitive documents on our phones and play photographer all day? Bring scanning back!

This problem seems like it would be an easy fix by the engineers as it was in the 2021 app software.  Although I am not a software engineer so what do I know?  

 

Again, why they removed that feature of scan management I really don't understand that logic or better said lack of logic.

huge mistake on the part of Intuit engineers to remove this feature.  Should be a simple fix as it was in the previous version of the QB app.  But I am no software engineer.

Yes, they not only want us out of desktop, they want us out of Quickbooks.  Have you noticed that the employees (at least they say they work for qbook/Intuit) have not once offered to help by submitting our feedback or complaints to the proper people in the company. They always throw it back on the customer by saying: So sorry with some lame typed up answer that is scripted by Intuit and always ask us to submit our feedback to someone else in the company. What do they think this forum is for?

That should not be up to Intuit.  

In my opinion, I do not use any cloud service as I do not trust the security of that type of service.  I strictly use local backups, more than one,  as I have secure control of my data.

 

In this day and age of cybersecurity problems why risk it?

My entire business is wrapped up in this software, and in it since 1998.

I love Desktop to 2021, and later is better than online.

It is so unnecessary with remote login services.

I am not against change, but I am against change that makes things more difficult for little, or no, gain.

We are 24hrs from a hurricane here, so I will check on things later.
