Using QB Pro v. 2019 on Windows 11

I recently purchased a laptop with Windows 11 Pro. I was very surprised that my QB Pro v. 2019 works! I installed it from my original installation CD without any problems and it really works. I was able to open all my QB files. Of course, the installation disk doesnt have the recent updates including the important 1099  -NEC update. I had read in many places that QB Pro before 2021 would not work on windows 11, but apparently this isnt the case. Any thoughts?

Using QB Pro v. 2019 on Windows 11

Although QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2019 was successfully installed on your Windows 11 device, troubleshooting methods may not effectively resolve any issues you encounter, as this version is already phase-out, @SteveB100. We'll provide more details below to address your inquiry.

Since you're using QBDT 2019, you'll no longer receive patch updates for this version, and tasks that require internet access, such as connecting bank accounts and using add-ons, will be obsolete. The troubleshooting method will no longer guarantee to resolve issues within the program. Additionally, Windows 11 is not compatible with QuickBooks 2021 and older versions, and the program no longer offers one-time purchase products, so users must sign up for a yearly subscription plan to continue using the program and its features.

You can check this page to learn more about specs designed for QBDT 2021: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2021.

On the other hand, here's an article in case you want to upgrade the program to its latest version: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop for Windows and Mac.

Using QB Pro v. 2019 on Windows 11

Kurt,

Thank you very much for your response. Yes, that is the standard response of Quickbooks to people who dont want to pay the exorbitant subscription fees for using the QB Enterprise edition or QB Online. I have used QB Pro 2019 for years on Windows 10 after the support period ended. It has worked great. I am well aware that I can no longer get support from QB, and that certain functions in QB, that I never use anyway, such as QB payroll, e mailing invoices and downloading bank transactions no longer work. I havent used those features for years. So, it matters not that they wont work with Windows 11. I am fortunate that I actually have the QB Pro 2019 installation CD so that I could reinstall it in my new computer. Most people bought it utilizing a download link that is no longer available.

The subscription price is outrageous for small users or accountants with only a few clients. Its ridiculous to expect people to pay the subscription for the rest of their lives or their data will vanish.

Using QB Pro v. 2019 on Windows 11

I would like to thank you very much for posting this! I've been very concerned about this issue because I have an older computer with a relatively new hard drive that I did not want to have to replace because it's been working wonderfully, but the computer itself has an older processor and is purportedly not compatible with Windows 11 upgrade. So I have purchased a new computer and I am trying to figure out what to do about QuickBooks Pro 2019. I agree with you completely that the subscription pricing is insanely ridiculous – it literally caused the cost to use QuickBooks Pro to more than quadruple – I was upgrading approximately every other year, which kept the annual cost for QuickBooks at around $100.  Now that cost has more than quadrupled to approximately $900 a year for the least expensive subscription option. That's truly untenable for small businesses. I've been very unhappy with that change by Intuit.  Thank you again so much for posting this – it gives me hope that I'm going to be able to continue using my program without having to pay the exorbitant subscription pricing!

@SCHouston

You should be able to reinstall QBD 2019 and run it on Windows 11. If possible, I recommend using Windows 11 Home instead of Pro. Home is more friendly to outdated QBD Desktop versions.
