We really need a space for bill date and posting date! They are many times not the same and because I need an invoice posted in a certain month, I need to put in a false invoice date.

Any idea of the timeframe this could possibly be fixed?  My DPO metrics are inaccurate because of the inability to enter bill date as it is printed on the bill.

Hello there, Sandy Burleigh.

I recognize the importance of incorporating the bill and posting dates in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Many users will benefit from this, as it ensures accuracy on when to pay bills and invoices.

We are unable to provide a specific time period for when this functionality will be available at this time. You can also learn more about what our product engineers are working on, as well as the latest enhancements and product news, by visiting the QuickBooks Blog and Firm of the Future.

I've provided a link to a page with tools and information to help you build your business and manage your accounting tasks smoothly: Community guide.

Fill me in if you have other QuickBooks concerns or additional questions about bills and invoices. I'd be delighted to respond to them.

The invoice date is almost never the same as the service date!

Hi everybody! Just checkin in. Ive gathered all of us here today since Its been almost five years since the original post. No love for us accrual people. I still cant keep accurate books. They did change some of the buttons and interface from an oval shape to a more square shape. So, you know, thats something i guess. Hope everyone is doing well and has a great rest of the year. Stay strong everybody.

Glad we're still going strong all this time knowing Quickbooks has made so many updates that actually make the software worse, accruing the bad blood

New user here.  I've only been using Quickbooks for a week, and it's hard to understand how this feature doesn't exist.  Please add this feature.

We value your interest in having the posting date feature on a bill, DS TCS.

We also recognize that this feature would help make your accounting processes more efficient and that this limitation may be inconvenient to all of you.

I recommend submitting additional feature requests to our development team, asking for the ability to incorporate the option. Our team takes customer suggestions when planning future updates and improvements to the software. Please be aware that our customers have made several requests for new features, and some may take some time to implement based on the demands and amount of requests.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

We value your input in determining the priority and implementation of features that meet our users' needs.

Furthermore, consider checking this article that provides valuable insights into managing your bills: Enter and manage bills and bill payments in QuickBooks Online.

If you require additional help managing your bills or any concerns, post the details below. I am available to assist you and offer the guidance you need. Take care!

This is more than "convenience" and "a feature request"  This goes to Quickbooks inability to create financial statements  that comply with generally accepted accounting principals and procedures that would be acceptable in an audit.  This is one of the main reasons  so many businesses "outgrow" Quickbooks quickly and move on to financial systems that provide basic capabilites.

This is my first experience with QBO and I will likely move my client off QBO with this being one of the main reasons.  I cannot get accurate accounting and AP aging reports in order to ensure accurate reporting. Very surprising that any accounting system would not have this functionality.

That's why we really need two different dates - bill date and posting date. Bill date is the invoice date on the invoice, which would reflect the correct payment terms etc. Posting date is the date that the company wants to post because the costs should be recorded in the correct month (when the services are incurred). The biggest challenge is at yearend - the invoices have to be posted in the correct fiscal year but if the bill date is the month after, they cannot be posted correctly.

"I recognize the importance of incorporating the bill and posting dates in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Many users will benefit from this, as it ensures accuracy on when to pay bills and invoices.:

This is NOT about when to pay bills and invoices.  This is WAY bigger than that.  This is about producing accurate accrual basis financial statements.   QB cannot accurately produce accrual basis reports or financial statements.  As another poster suggested, using QB as it is today would never stand up to a GAAP audit or an IRS audit if the client uses the accrual basis of accounting.

The suggestion that we log into our OB find the gear, and send in suggestions irritates me.  Why can't these posts suffice?
